filtering/ignoring boards?
filtering/ignoring boards?
Whenever I check out this forum, I tend to look at the recent posts first to see what folks are talking about. Is there any way to filter out certain threads completely from this area so that I have fewer recent posts to weed through?
Yeah, not interested in the sports threads... and some days they take up five pages out of the ten pages worth of recent posts!
Edit: I'm not talking about limiting the scope of conversation in any way, rather just filtering out these posts from what I see personally.

That's good idea. I know it's suprising from a DEVELOPMENT forum, but almost half the biggest topics on the forum are sports related.
Just look at my avatar, for crying out loud!
You might want to try using the "Search" feature. Not all of the posts would be new, but that might help weed out some of the sports topics.

I almost shed a tear, how can someone not want to read me and AllThingsKC's posts, after all most of them are Sports related.

I try to read most of the posts true there are those that I wish that I stayed out of but they do get interesting though.

Re: filtering/ignoring boards?
Is there anything worse than some weenie moaning about having to "read thru" posts he doesn't like, on an anonymous chat board?
Good grief. It's almost like they look for a pat on the back, an apology, and a napkin for their tears.

Re: filtering/ignoring boards?
I just quickly click on threads I don't want to read so that they don't pop up in "new threads".

Ha ha ha... I guess I hurt your feelings by putting you on 'ignore'! Sorry there, little buddy.Maitre D wrote: Is there anything worse than some weenie moaning about having to "read thru" posts he doesn't like, on an anonymous chat board?

Thanks for the feedback. I was honestly wondering if there were settings somewhere that I was too dense to locate & could configure on my own - I'm not trying to change any discussion on here, just wondering if there was a way to make my skimming more efficient.AllThingsKC wrote: That's good idea. And now I know that the 'ignore' button does nothing to this effect.

Thank you - that seems to do the trick!KCMax wrote: I just quickly click on threads I don't want to read so that they don't pop up in "new threads".
Re: filtering/ignoring boards?
Yeah, my routine is usually me clicking on 97-page threads, and immediately muttering, "don't care," before I hit backspace.
Re: filtering/ignoring boards?
I now have 105 pages of unread threads with new messages. Someday I may get real bored and go back and catch up, but unlikely!

If you put me on "ignore"....how on earth are you quoting me, in your response TO me?

This thread is awesome.
Re: filtering/ignoring boards?
I'll try it again. Just clicked 'ignore' next to your user name - clicked 'show' next to your ignored message - then clicked 'quote'.Maitre D wrote:

So what the hell is the point of "ignoring" me then, if you're opening my messages anyway?
You're a real winner.
