Sounds to me like the opponents are trying to legislate relationships. The proponents are just including all relationships as equal and legitimate.
Suburban Sprawl - Cut down all of the trees and name the streets after them.

the opponents are just plain morons. If my partner of 15 years is critically ill, I have no right to visit him in the hospital now. Just exactly how is giving me the right to sit with him in intensive care going to adversely affect anyone??? KC has had a gay rights ordinance for years, with no negative impact on anyone. I work in KS, for a school, so I know that I'll never have any rights there, but I live in KCMO because at least here I feel safer and more respected.
Are you sure we're talking about the same God here, because yours sounds kind of like a dick.
