You actually mean that, did you? The buildings in the background of a recorded video are not actually farther away than the buildings in the foreground when you watch the video—they're both the same distance away, the distance from your eyes to the display.

But nevermind, the joke failed.

You're right, and the joke didn't fail. I got a good laugh out of it.

Kansas City gets a shoutout in one of the episodes of Netflix's new show: Ozark. Main woman character says "the Plaza is quite nice".

Bill Murray is in town, has relatives that live in the area. Spotted at 18th/Vine yesterday and Brown & Loe this afternoon, where his presence seriously impacted the preparation of my brunch.

You don't understand. It is not always about actual distance/depth.
Video uses a multitude of effects to create depth and distance; shadowing, blur, etc.
In myopia the eyes pick up what is clearest and focuses on it.
Obviously, in video the buildings in front will appear to be the clearest.
The nearsighted eye diminishes things that are not clearly in focus.
So even though all of the buildings on a pc screen are the "same distance" from the eyes, myopia still affects the vision.
Especially if one is not deliberately focusing on the blurred background.

So it looks like Bargain Mansions will premiere on the DIY Network on Nov. 7th.

I wasn't that impressed with the two pilot episodes - both the quality of the rehab working being done and the production and entertainment value of the show. The houses I have seen that she has done since look like they have improved, hopefully the other aspects of the show will.

Here is the latest home that just came on the market:

This was the house from the pilot:

The one in Southmoreland just sold:

The house in South Hyde Park sold a little earlier this year:

It sounds like she also did one near Loose Park, and two in Leawood (blech).

The Mainstreet Theater makes a brief appearance in the documentary, Wait for Your Laugh, about Rose Marie, the long-time actress and performer best known for The Dick Van Dyke Show.

I watched the first couple episodes of Bargain Mansions. Pretty standard DIY format and show. I really like the KC aspect of the show. The first house (episode 1&2) looked like it was in Leawood and the second house is in Hyde Park. They are doing a good job with establishing shots of KC, driving thru neighborhoods etc. showing off more of the city than just the typical Plaza and Liberty Memorial shots. They do like the shot from the Scout though.

If it wasn’t in KC I likely wouldn’t watch but I’m going to keep up with it on the dvr.
