yes. and their tax abatement was very notably extended recently.

McClatchy is obviously hard up for cash. Somebody should make a killing, hope it's someone with vision.

You will need a lot of vision to re-purpose that building, after McClatchy defaults on their lease. Which probably wouldn't be long.

Because it's McClatchy and the operations are closely related:

Wichita Eagle sold their building to Cargil last fall (see uninspiring Cargill rendering... not that type of rendering: http://www.kwch.com/content/news/Cargil ... 14316.html) The old distribution sheds out back have already been demolished. Printing was moved to KC last spring, so they truck the paper down I-35 every morning.

It's highly unlikely that the structure is water tight. We may have to settle for a terrarium with Komodo dragons and giant tortoises.

As long as it's visible from 670 that's all that matters.

Why would the building need to be water tight? We're not talking about filling it with water. It's an iconic-type building in a good location for tourists and lots of land around it that would be developed with an aquarium project. And...I'd like to get credit for the aquarium idea when the building was first built.

Don't need an aquarium. I'm could see an indoor ski facility for summer or a year round indoor pool/water park.

Doesn't matter as long as it's boozy.
