and challenging a martial arts expert who, shirtless, kicked james repeatedly in the face. nothing like a few roundhouse kicks to end an evening at the brooksider.

James' huge tax and bond plan keeps evolving
The work being done behind the scenes by James, City Council members, the city staff and a few others is aimed at keeping the sales tax and property tax increases on the proposed August ballot, but finding ways to make them appeal to voters.

That’s positive because - even though James correctly wants to promote more money to maintain KC’s infrastructure - he and City Hall must give voters a good, structure plan to spend the hundreds of millions of dollars in higher taxes they want to seek.

Very proud of Sly during the ASG time....can't imagine how horrible it would be with Funk as the "face" of KC.

I don't know about that. Seeing Funk lecture Bud Selig about stadium economics and public subsidies would have been pretty funny.

Was just thinking this last night. Very good timing that KC elected a great cheerleader for this event.

This article mentions about Sly James house was sold on Manheim to some UMKC professor, wonder where he lives now? Do they have a home specifically for mayors in KC?

No, unless it is something new with James.

He lives in a townhouse in Union Hill. Just north of 30th I believe (based on his photos).

Kansas City has never had a dedicated house, or executive residence, for the mayor to live in. I don't know many cities that do. New York City has Gracie Mansion.

I recall when I lived in Phoenix, the then-governor, Rose Mofford, lived in a regular apartment in Midtown Phoenix. Her phone number was also listed in the phone book, and you could call it and get her personal answering machine. She remains one of the most beloved figures in Arizona politics.
