At first, everyone thought it was theater.

Pretty frightening reminder of the vulnerability of leaders, to the ill and disenfranchised.

Sly is such a pro. Proud of him on many levels.

Why do we have security again? They should be embarrassed.

Sly's not the president. There is not that level of coverage.

You would have had to be there. I can not fault Marlin Bouie, the mayors bodyguard at all. Though he is likely faulting himself.

He handled a bad situation.

Seriously Powercat, that's a cold response.

Sly's not Whitney Houston, but that would make for an interesting contemporary remake.

I don't think it's cold, this could have been a really bad situation if this guy had worse motives. I'm glad they finally came and got him after he had time to walk up onto the stage, knock over a flag, push Sly away from the mic, grab the mic, and then rattle off a crazy sentence.

This was not a random walk through the plaza, this was a highly visible public speech, I would think they would be a little more aware about what was going on and movements in the crowd. Obviously he isn't the POTUS. Also, I'm not laying blame at his two personal guards' feet, it's more the who procedure of how KCPD is setup and prepared I have issues with. I would think there would be uniformed KCPD at the foot of the stage for example.

I wasn't sure if they were tackling or dancing...nice to see the uniformed officer waited until it was over before he sauntered across the stage. #RyanSimsSecurityTeam

Derron Black, the man who interrupted Mayor James speech, is running for mayor.

I doubt anyone who publically behaves as Black did this week will get much support for mayor.

The mayor's son, Kyle James, was arrested in Johnson County for violating his probation for a past DWI.

I guess he's part of a reason why crime is up in JoCo.
