I'm always trying to keep the peeps here informed on Lawrence stuff...well...tonight I turned on the TV and the local station (channel 6) had the group SoundsGood performing on top of a building with a distant view of the skyline in the back. The performance was for a local music show called the Turnpike. I couldn't tell exactly where it was, but figured from the location of the skyline that it was in KCK or the West Bottoms. Anyone know exactly?
This was very COOL seeing the KC skyline and warehouses in the background as the hip-hop music surrounded it. Their music isn't like Tech N9ne or anything like that...it's got a more focused low-key, groove to it. You can watch the entire performance at http://calendars.lawrence.com/turnpike/episodes/18/

I finally divorced beer and proposed to whiskey, but I occassionally cheat with fine wine.

Nah, you said KCK. It's KCMO, probably at Hickory & Central.KC wrote:isn't that what I said?

yeah you might be right.....looking again it sits too low to be Central in KCK.

It has to have been taken from one of three buildings at 9th & Liberty indicated by the red arrows below. My money is on the middle of the three. If it were the left one the middle building should be partially visible in the photo, and the building on the right seems too low. The middle building has the right POV and the right roof color.
I've marked 5 visual cues in the photo that match up with this overhead view. If the overhead view were larger, even more visual cues match up that point to a 9th & Liberty location.

Thanks!
If the KCMO web site's data is right the middle building (the one I suspect is the correct location) is the Hobbs Building 1427 W. 9th. A Google search turns up a post in the SoundsGood message board about an event there in September, just a month before the video footage was shot.
