KCMO breaks 1,000 single family permits in July

1,143 permits were issued in July. This has to be the first time in decades that KCMO had this many permits issued.

Numbers by county and percentage increase from 2002.

Clay County- 796- 42% increase
Jackson- 198- 43% increase
Platte- 149- 18% increase

Are those numbers county-wide, or just the KC portions of those counties?

Those numbers are just for KCMO in those respective counties. Here's the county numbers.

Clay- 1214- 31% increase
Jackson- 1443- 1% increase
Platte- 376- 7% increase

a dwelling meant for a single family, havent you ever seen zoning maps? a two family house is for just that, two familys.

I still misunderstand, I guess. Why would you need a permit for your family to live somewhere?

It is a building permit for a contracter to build the house. You need a permit to construct a house, to not live in it. In this case they are talking about single family permits, which are for detached houses mean to hold one family. Likewise, a multifamily permit would be for something like apartments, condos, townhouses, etc.

No way to tell that from the pages I was looking at, Bahua.

I made a mistake in the post: those numbers include each year's July count rather than ending on July 1 like I said.

Also, the formatting didn't hold. The last three numbers on the KC lines are the subtotals for Missouri, Kansas, and Johnson County. The percentages on the Olathe lines refer to the Missouri, Kansas, and Johnson County shares of the total.
