Why wasn't anyone trying to save the Golden Ox???????? TIF the mother! As sentimental as the Golden Ox was, bad business decisions should not be rewarded with public subisdies. Other new restaurants are opening in the West Bottoms, so obviously it's a viable location for people with a good business...

I realize it was a destination restaurant..solely based on history. The food was no better than the 50 Ponderosa's, Sizzler's and Bonanza's you had to pass to get there.

It's hard to believe that the employees at Butler, the $6/hour jobs a Gateway and the handful of businesses in the Livestock Exchange Building have kept the place open this long!

People are surprised??? Barnes was chair of the TIF commission before she was the mayor. Although she ran as an outsider and a populist, she was actually in the pocket of the development interests. I don't know if I'd go that far, but she cleaned house with EDC's top brass the second she got elected.
