Re: Lions Choice

I hope so, Lion's Choice beats the pants off Arby's in every conceivable way. I've volunteered to unnecessarily join work day trips to St. Louis because there's a Lion's Choice by the office there.

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

I thought the same thing about Segways, although they have never really become the type of plague these scooters have the potential to be (and have been, it seems, elsewhere). That our sidewalks are underutilized is true, although I'm not sure that allowing people to terrorize pedestrians on scooter...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

It's a good point.....it's just how empty our sidewalks are 99% of the time Obviously 99% of the time is an exaggeration, but my concern is that most of the people who are going to use these things are, most of the time, going to want to use them during times and places the sidewalks aren't empty, ...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

With our narrow ass sidewalks and insistence on further eroding their useful walking space by planting trees, I don't see how having people blazing around them at running speed on powered wheeled vehicles could be anything other than a nuisance. I wouldn't feel safe riding one on the street with tra...

Re: Historic Preservation in the Urban Core

I wanted to give the guy the benefit of the doubt and say maybe he wants to fix it up but just can't afford to, but no, from what I can ascertain this dude is basically a grown up rich kid who just doesn't want to sell or otherwise do anything with the property. He's been taken to court (and sentenc...

Re: Downtown needs larger police presence

Come to Northeast, I've lived here for almost 14 years and I've only had a vehicle tampered with twice (both times a broken window with nothing stolen, just jerks breaking windows apparently). And I park on the street!

You don't always need the existing density to justify the construction of light rail and commuter rail.
Tell that to the people with the federal grant money.

I can't tell if this is a stupid temporary fad doomed to failure or a stupid long-term fad doomed to annoy the shit out of me.

Yeah, when even your "suburbs" are paragons of urban design by comparison, there is obviously a density scale issue to take into consideration.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

The extreme thin/skinned approach in the second two are very off putting. I get that it can come off that way, but we've been going around in circles with this stuff for years. Ultimately we're going to get whatever we can get precisely because it is what we we were able to get. Not because things ...

I think that is perfectly rational. I do not think politics or political debates like this are long going to be subject to the constraints of rationality.

Re: Buck O'Neill International Airport

I agree it is harmless. I agree it makes no sense. I also think it's silly and artificial. But if it is harmless and legitimately makes some people happy, what's the big deal? I can't really see any practical reason to oppose. Maybe some day we'd like to name things after people that mean something...
