Re: General Amtrak Discussion
Has there ever been a study that said what the cost to double track the route and remove all at-grade crossings between STL and KC would be? Even with existing curves and such, could we get this route up to 100-120 MPH realistically? Just doing some quick math in my head, building a road bridge to r...

Re: Missouri bill would change name of I-70 & I-44
Obviously a publicity stunt. I don't want to see billions of taxpayer money spent on either highway when we should be investing in rail (freight and passenger), but with that said I-44 carries more freight than 70 across the state.

Re: New Riverfront Women's Soccer Stadium
So I'm not sure if this will be a controversial take, but the current stadium feels extremely cheap for how expensive it is (I've been in it multiple times recently). It's a glorified high school stadium with a roof. It's a huge step down in quality from sporting KCs park. so they were limited in w...

Re: OFFICIAL - Buck O'Neil Bridge
I have not heard that access to I-70 from HOA would be eliminated? That would just end up with trucks exiting on some other loop exit and going through loop surface streets to get to HOA and NKC industrial areas adjoining Burlington. Re: New Riverfront Women's Soccer Stadium
The amphitheater probably needs it's own thread, but I will point out it will be very close to the rail line that goes through downtown Parkville that would be used on that proposed Amtrak line to St Joe so it wouldn't be hard to connect that venue to rail.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I know I'm preaching to the choir but: Arrowhead does need as much work as Kauffman. The difference is it makes more sense to pour a ton of money into a very extensive renovation of Arrowhead than doing the same for Kauffman. The location of Arrowhead is fine (despite the area around it being a tot...

71% of OKC just voted to build a new arena to keep their NBA team. Surprisingly high. No way KC gets those kind of numbers.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I really think this has more to do with DC trying to go all in on getting the Commanders and straight up ignoring the arena and those teams. It almost sounds like they really weren't going to pursue this project til they basically got ghosted by DC admins. Is Missouri even trying to help deal with ...

Re: OFFICIAL - Pennway Point
you know there is a parking garage under the city hall plaza right? Union station also has parking garage below that surface lot so they are actually very similar. WTF are you talking about? So what if both have a garage underneath. They are not similar, US has an ugly surface parking lot right in ...

Re: OFFICIAL - Pennway Point
If Union Station was willing to give up the parking fronting the building, they could extend Washington Park further West. That parking lot in front of US is the dumbest parking lot in the city. It's as bad as if they tore out the front of City Hall and put in a surface lot. But people will make ev...

Re: Proposed UMKC on campus arena.
5 thousand seats is way smaller than you might imagine. This is a rendering of the new 5 thousand seat arena that the Arizona Coyotes will be playing in. (Why are they still in Arizona?) The Independence arena is 5,800 seats for reference and cost $60 million in 2009 I think they'd be better off go...

Proposed UMKC on campus arena.
Looks like the plan is on pause due to the costs. The city really doesn't need another arena and nobody cares about their basketball team so I'd rather they not waste tax money on the arena. But if they do build it, they should add a hockey team as having a hockey team in the urban core could be coo...

Re: KU/KCK <-----> TSC East/West Transit
I'd get rid of parking on 39th and put the streetcar in a grass median like in Europe. I'm sure KU med will open a paid parking garage for streetcar parking. Just park there and ride it. And get those buidings labeled as historic or get zoning height restrictions on those blocks so they don't get re...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
If we do go with the EV site, I'd like to see the currently empty lots north of the T-mobile center saved as a view corridor between P&L and the new stadium so you could literally see the two areas from each other as a pedestrian/tourist. If you remove the ugly concrete municipal courthouse and ...

Re: New downtown on street parking rolloout
Looks like a nice step in the right direction. When friends and family come from the burbs into downtown, they always complain about parking and the confusion in general. I don't agree with them but anything we can do to make it more simple for visitors, I support. Next, let's tackle the food deliv...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
somebody can go ahead and give this to the Royals, I'm designing the stadium for free... You can Easily fit a baseball stadium (this is roughly a 30k seat stadium, using a Royals Urban academy field which has fences that are 8 to 10 feet shorter than the K. Also can fit a soccer field. Saves a big c...
