Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
What are the numbers? No one can say exactly until engineering is done and the line design finalized. Construction inflation has been about 4% per year recently. $51 million per mile in 2013 extrapolated out to a contract fixed the price in 2019 is a minimum of $65 million per mile. At 3.4 miles th...

They closed Pleasant Valley road for several months and I saw via Twitter they're close to using the new mainline SB lanes.

Re: Kansas City GO Bond
Broadway Bridge for sure. how would you sell that to the 5th and 6th districts? A new bridge means it will be easier for them to get to their private planes at the downtown airport. ;-) not necessarily. a new bridge could move the access point to the airport and make it harder. the current ramps ar...

Re: Missouri Amtrak Service
I would think that long-term there's some kind of train service roughly mirroring the road network where there's already rail corridors that follow the same route. Like the river runner basically covers I-70/US 50. there's already freight lines from KC to Omaha already so compared to many routes it ...

Re: Kansas City GO Bond
what does KCRAG think we should spend the debt money on? go through and find all the short sections of things that would improve the entire network. like N. Oak between 29 and NKC has a LOT of disconnected sidewalks where they stop before the street. downtown has a lot of sections of sidewalk where...

Pretty sure westbound 70/435 interchange by stadiums doesn't say Topeka West, I think it's just blank, then u have Wichita 435 Sign and des Moines 435 sign then u have the topeka sign the closer u get to the loop. https://www.google.com/maps/@39.0541023,-94.4791456,3a,75y,311.64h,106.21t/data=!3m6!...

Re: 531 Grand
My guess is that the additional 50 apartments will require 50 additional parking spaces in the garage, and the Muehlebach Building will be demolished to expand the garage to accommodate that need. Some recent parking numbers are a spot for every other bedroom. I believe this is close to what Two Li...

Re: Regional Transit Coordination
In this age of near-ubiquitous GPS and access to free online maps, anyone on road trip that doesn't know I-35 goes to Des Moines has way bigger problems. Near doesn't mean universal. The bottom 20% of the population is going to be reliant on signs and paper maps. Free online maps comes with buying ...

Re: Regional Transit Coordination
At the new interchange at 95th and I-35 there never use to be a control city at this spot and it makes no sense to me to put Des Moines at this spot before you even hit Kansas City . If anything it should say downtown not des moines or nothing at all. In Chicago while on 90/94 East there are signs ...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
Waiting at Union Station really is the only workable method if we care about spacing. ... No, it's not. You can monitor the position of each streetcar and tell an operator to hold ten seconds extra at each stop, or to hold longer for people approaching a stop at his discretion, etc., whenever his s...

Re: Regional Transit Coordination
I didn't really know where to put this but I noticed that there is a new sign at I-35 and 95th street, the highway sign says Des Moines. Not sure if it ever said that before but it seems odd to put Des Moines on a sign before you even hit Kansas City proper, I totally understand the need for Des Mo...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
Slowing down won't help to add much spacing, only waiting is impactful. 12th to 14th = 0.19 miles so this is time to cover two blocks at various speeds 15mph = 43 seconds 25mph = 26 seconds 35mph = 20 seconds At avg 25mph would have stops as about half the time for a 30 minute loop, so that seems ab...

Re: Million plus Square Foot Dist Center in KCK
Catalog/internet sales also allow for greater density. By moving distribution to single locations less inventory has to sit near consumers. Like we have a lot of 140 foot shops and lots. Today these are becoming two apartments (see 1914 main rear units). Before these were mostly storage depth. Yes, ...

Re: Million plus Square Foot Dist Center in KCK
I'm just very critical of Amazon and think its this company that is trying to take over every aspect of the internet. I also think they are bad for communities that want density and walkability. It's an extension of changes going all the way back to Sears. They shipped items from a central location...

The worst day I saw it they created a huge gap between trains and then tried to deny it. They created an hour gap in SB service.pash wrote:I've seen them bunch up at Union Station several times. There is some sort of scheduled delay they do occaisonally, as flyingember mentioned, and it's pretty aggravating.
