Several Loud Pops at around 9:00pm on 12-Mar

I just heard several rounds of loud pops... Perhaps Gunshots???  Does anyone know what's going on?  I heard 3 at 9:08, another at 9:11, 9:13, and 9:14 from 9th and Walnut.  So far no sirens, but I do see a cop car in the distance (at maybe Holmes and 9th??)

Re: Lunar eclipse photo-op

Those are great!!  Especially good for no tripod.  I wouldn't have thought that 1,000 miles would make such a big difference in its appearance.

It was a lot less spectacular than I hoped for.  I took a couple pictures though:

Re: The Official Kansas City Weather Thread

Pics anyone from tonight's atmospheric festivities? I got a couple decent ones from the rooftop garden at 909 Walnut (and out my window for the lightning strike) http://www.vucovich.com/photoblog/page37/files/page37-1000-thumb.jpg http://www.vucovich.com/photoblog/page37/files/page37-1003-thumb.jpg...

Re: Live near Downtown? Work near 151st and Ridgeview? Want to ride The JO?

rather than redesign a route to serve as few as five riders, the jo ought to ask -- and expect -- employers to shuttle their employees the final mile or two from an existing stop. That'd be fine with me too... I think it would be great, especially for larger companies, to pitch in with promoting &q...

Live near Downtown? Work near 151st and Ridgeview? Want to ride The JO?

If you would use a bus that ran from downtown to near 151st street and Ridgeview, please let the folks at The JO know! I live downtown and work at Garmin (1200 E. 151st street in Olathe).  The closest bus would drop me off at the Great Mall of the Great Plains, which is well over a mile away across ...

Re: KCMO giving away compact fluorescent light bulbs

Are there any type of flourescent that can be used with dimmers? The sconces in my house can use only one type of plug in flourescent and they are just too bright for general ambience. I don't know if they have fluorescent bulbs that have dimmers built in, but you can get special bulbs to put in di...

Re: KCMO giving away compact fluorescent light bulbs

Where do you get this one? I've tried several kinds of flourescent and I hate the light they give and end up changing them back. I find the light to have kind of a yellow cast. I've used GE and whatever Lowe's house brand is. You can get that brand at Home Depot.  They come in three temperatures.  ...

Broken Water Pipes at 6th and Walnut

On my way to the river market, I saw water bubbling out from cracks in the pavement on 6th street at Walnut.  Looks like a water main busted and buckled the sidewalk and is just leaking everywhere.  Not pictured is a waterfall gushing out the side of the embankment that slopes down to I-70. http://w...

What's the deal with that?  I'm fairly new to both the Max and the KC Metro system, but that sort of on-the-fly rerouting has h...

So, the Southbound section of I-35 on the West Loop will be closed starting Monday.  What's the magic route to get on I-35 Southbound in the morning from the middle of downtown without a lot of hassle?  Right now it takes me about 5 minutes via Broadway. http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/1657...

I attended the meeting and it was great to see so many "neighbors."  I was wondering if the DNA has ever posted meeting notices in some of the larger buildings downtown?

Personally I think if you go on "a list" or not should be up to the judge's decision on the merit's of the case...not the crime they commit. Making them all live in one building is kind of rough...but I can see the landlords reasoning for not wanting to rent to felons as well.  Sure they'...

Re: 909 Walnut

As I understand it, it will not occur until 2010.  I was told this is a condition of the tax breaks given to Simbol Commercial to renovate the building.
