Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
Planet Sub in Waldo is closing. Not really surprised. During lunch, there would only be a handful of people in there and I think their quality was hit and miss. They should move over to Wornall where they would be more visible.

Re: Make Grand Grand
Did they rebuild the crumbling sidewalks? And what are these half moons? And I agree, trees and planting boxes would do wonders from a pedestrian walking that stretch, especially when it’s 100 degrees out.

Voting out Parsons and Hawley would be a good start to Missouri going more moderate and civil.

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?
Denver is almost twice the size of KC. Hm? I don't want to derail the thread even more, but Denver's urbanized area is approaching 3 million and KC's is 1.6. Their urbanized area is also twice as dense, plus the rest of the front range urbanized areas are close. The 1990s "Denver is just KC wi...

Re: Amenities missing from downtown
That would be ideal, but not even a high rise. Most buildings over there are low rise, so something similar to the St. Louis design I would be good with.

Re: Amenities missing from downtown
I would think one of the empty lots around 7th-8th along Main or Baltimore would be a great area for an urban Target. Right on the streetcar and several lots ripe for development. Plus walking distance from Rivermarket.

Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project
Also I just gotta say, so glad finally someone just fucking did it. Someone just finally got off their ass, ignored the suburban grumblings & whining & fears and just put a motherf****g stadium downtown. Someone just had to break the glass ceiling on that, don't care which team it was. Fina...

Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project
Yeah, too bad Children's Mercy Park wasn't built there as well, could have been a great soccer complex and solidified KC as the soccer Capital of the US.

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?
So we go full BRT and hope Bravo and that Plaza Holiday Inn hotel spot are done by 2026? Wonder what % of the games at Arrowhead would be from KC area or a place where they would drive in from their home and not need hotel. Jesus. I hope KC is able to add more than a couple small hotels by 2026. Th...

Re: Downtown ballpark and condos
The weird thing about the Royals and Chiefs is that they are both tied to the Truman Sports complex through 2031. What other city has to deal with two franchises lease agreements at the same time? Probably none. If the Royals want a new downtown ballpark, I think it's going to have to be mostly priv...

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!
It's a design-build project. The original plans are what is being built. Original or "modified" plans. Pretty sure the original plans also had a wavy looking roof and a large fountain inside the terminal. Not to nitpick. Found it. You were thinking of the fancy drawn on a napkin image to ...

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!
Why would one be needed? People walk across the street without one today just fine. Well I was just thinking pedestrian safety, plus now, there are two separate terminals and garages, not just one big one that will have one entry point versus multiple. I believe in the original plans there was a sk...

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!
So is there not going to be a skywalk from the parking garage to the terminal entrance? That seems like a cluster fvck of people trying to get across. I hope I am wrong. Why would one be needed? Re: Three Light
Sounds pretty common. Most of your lunch haunts are still around. Ha, that's good to know. I've lost probably 8lbs from just not eating out everyday, whether Jason's Deli, Pickleman's or Jimmy John's...lol. I eat mostly Healthy Choice meals now for lunch and cut out the soda. Occasionally order a s...

Cool. Thanks. I need to take a drive through downtown and check out some of the new construction. Our RTW keeps getting pushed out, mostly due to the Delta variant now. Might not be going back until next year now.

Re: Sprint Center opening day pictures
A wide median heavily landscaped would do wonders for Grand Blvd. It's such a drab strip. New sidewalks would be nice too. All of this could be done for a reasonable amount of money and would attract more development and people just walking up and down Grand. Moving the bike lanes into a landscape ...

Re: TIME TO FREAK OUT AGAIN ABOUT CONFERENCE REALIGNMENT! THE BIG 12 IS DEAD! MAYBE!
You all realize none of this matters anyway because the Big 10 isn't gonna take KU unless their football program got substantially better. And even then, it's a maybe. All that matters in re-alignment is football. That's where the money is. The Big 12 is gonna add these 4 schools when they vote on ...
