Re: KC Bike share
Sounds like some smart bike systems are now giving it more structure that require leaving in a regular bike rack - Topeka seems to be doing this. An extra layer of structure would be to require city permits for bike racks to be used by any public bikeshare system. It would mean a City Database that ...

Nothing solid but there was a KobiQ in Jersey that was Korean BBQ. Ron Rico = rum bar?
Xroads and downtown need more retail, not eats/bars.

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ
Would think ATL in top 3 anyway. Would think they release a short list before finalizing a decision. Austin makes a lot of top 5 lists but they don't have many international flights either, though they do have one regular to Europe and another seasonal. Austin's tech employment is high per capita bu...

Interesting name choice BTW, which I assume is based on Hemingway's 'A Clean Well-Lighted Place,' his expression of nihilism and heading to a place to escape the darkness and nothingness. Hemingway was of course based in KC for a while as a Star reporter.

KC one of five 'dark horse' candidates for HQ2 according to Inc. Magazine...

It overstates that KC has an international airport, which is likely not broad enough for their requirements.

Re: Buying a Condo in Downtown KC!
Thought I read all of the Cordish Light buildings are planned to convert to condo when market conditions are right. Incorrect?
That is the plan with many hirise developers across the country.
For now, The Plaza is the most robust condo market, but in time would think condos increase downtown.

Downtown's average age is 36.1 according to last downtown report in 2015... http://www.downtownkc.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/DT-Housing-Presentation.pdf That's probably higher than other downtowns but not a bad thing. The difference between housing costs between downtown KC and rest of metro is ...

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??
Many who work along the streetcar line have figured out they can get free parking in CM. Was inevitable that wouldn't last. Look forward to streetcar expanding to riverfront. To keep cars out of downtown, ideally there would be a mega public garage (TIF OK in this case) built near Paseo Bridge. Unti...

Right am aware, but thought I read it will rely on parking at 5th/Main. Or that taking away the lot for DE apts next door will rely on 5th/Main garage.

Re: Amenities missing from downtown
Amazon same day delivery should be considered a tactical option, not a permanent solution for a comprehensive fully functioning downtown. Good option in the meantime. Could a small urban Target fit into the old foodcourt in One KC Place? I think it's now used as conference room space. They have stor...

Re: Downtown Delivery
ClusterTruck is now officially open downtown, a sort of food truck delivery hybrid that has an onprem kitchen. A delivery only kitchen I suppose. Sounds like you have to meet driver at curb, not delivered at your door. Based out of Indy, expanded to OH, KC and Denver... https://cityscenekc.com/clus...

Re: Amenities missing from downtown
Ideally in The Loop. National chains in RM and Xroads would ruin them. Even more ideal would be new office/residential buildings along the W8th St lots, turn into a pedestrian only stretch from streetcar/Main to Broadway, anchor with urban Target and a few other major retailers (garage access can fa...

Yeah, at the base of any residential/office building within a couple blocks of streetcar line, such as any upcoming Cordish building.
