Re: DIVERSITY
You can also attribute it to some immigrants who wanted their children to 'be American', by not teaching them the Old World ways or language. After a couple generations the identity could become lost. But would suspect many who call themselves American as their ancestry is about Provincial National...

Re: DIVERSITY
Maybe it's the new era of Provincial Nationalism, to reject ancestry. OTOH, some simply can't tag their ancestry or have unfortunately lost that identity. We are likely all ultimately from Africa so what does ancestry really mean. Perhaps ancestry is only as important as to which era you _want_ to i...

Re: KC Bike share
The problem is there's no way for someone to be certain the bike wasn't in the rack without it being the dock style that can read the bike from the stand. Dockless bikes don't work that way. The smarts are in the bike, not the station so dumb racks can be used. The bikes have GPS built in and some ...

Re: Main Street MAX
The Plaza jog isn't that disruptive and maybe better location for visitors. Separately, would rather see the tennis courts turned into a transit center with a Walgreens or CVS and Plaza residential services, which the Plaza needs but won't do. Can move the courts to N end of Mill Creek Park or beef ...

Re: KC Bike share
Dockless could work with some structure, such as using designated bike racks issued a city permit. The City could have a way for the public/businesses to register their own bike racks and dockless system records city approved locations in their app. The bikeshare system or city could issue branding ...

Re: KC transit-oriented development push (TOD)
P&R garages are fine located near the streetcar line. It will help get rid of other surface lots along the line as they can use these garages. The lots are at the edges of RM anyway. The next ideal spot for P&R garage would be near Paseo Bridge when streetcar is extended to Riverfront, would...

Re: KC Bike share
You should encourage this, maybe start with HR dept. It may also encourage adding a bikeshare station at 22nd/Grand MAX stop (maybe the hospital will sponsor it).northlandnate wrote:Would love to see a station at Hospital Hill, allowing me to rent a bike in NKC and take it to work boosted by a streetcar ride.

KC transit-oriented development push (TOD)
Big things are expected to spring from a 2-acre site at the northwest corner of 12th and Charlotte streets on the east side of the downtown freeway loop. The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority acquired the site, currently a surface parking lot, last month from Barber & Sons Co. and plans...

Re: Main Street MAX
The biggest thing I could have asked for was moving the route to Grand. That was done and it's been 2 wonderful months of speedy travel through downtown. So nice to get from Plaza to RM in reasonable time. 2.) I'd love to see the vinyl seats added to the Max buses that are now standard on regular R...

That exposed stairwell is pretty cool. Wonder if that is to encourage using the stairwell. It looks like there's space as sort of an observation platform at each level. And nice that every building they've been adding lately looks completely different. Am talkin to you Cordish. ;-) https://lh3.googl...

Plans to convert to mixed use with 4 story apts. Whatever goes there, am hoping they do streetfront retail. Re: Favorite Special Occasion Restaurant?
Good suggestions. Antler Room and Corvino may have pricey small plates but they both deliver. Maybe the better of the list for any 'special occasion for two' as well as Krokstrum (Scandinavian). These three offer more tasty variety you can share. Stock Hill a good suggestion if wanting something mor...
