Re: Missouri Amtrak Service
FWIW, I rode Amtrak from Portland to Seattle a couple of years ago and the WiFi was erratic at best. It seemed to continually drop out.

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Last night Eric Hosmer did something kinda odd. He hit the ball in a way that caused it to go so far it went over the wall in centerfield. In this case, the umpires allowed him to go completely around the bases and score a run. Is that because it was in Tampa? I know they have weird rules for that ...

Re: Metro North Mall
Just a side note, there is a small section of Jackson County that is north of the River--the area where highways 291 and 210 intersect. https://maps.google.com/?ll=39.185167,-94.389124&spn=0.043642,0.097847&t=h&z=14 I had no idea. Factoid for my day. I love how you can trace the old flo...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
Two, if a case has gone this far there is an interest by the justices in the arguments being presented. This the biggest piece of mularkey I've heard today. The streetcar lawsuit has made it this far as a matter of right . It has nothing to do with anyone's interest in or the merit of the case. In ...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
[ Many college towns have ordinances/laws that say you can't vote in those towns because you are only there to go to that school. You might live there 4-5 years off campus. They see young temp residents as a bloc that might vote against what they're trying to pass or who they're trying to elect. Wh...

and the gerrymandering plot was by no means that. I dislike that practice and this district was crazy compact by the definition. It was the exact opposite of gerymandering Question. How was the district drawn up? Why wasn't it drawn wider? I accept the length but what about the width? Wider brings ...

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??
I think the point is KC is large enough to stumble across unique experiences. The City Market stands on its own, it doesn't require one to imagine it is in New York or Chicago in order to validate it.

“My wife, Nica, and I just fell in love with the market … and the diversity it brings,” he said. “It makes you feel as if you are somewhere else, someplace you might stumble upon in a large metropolitan city.” Read more here: http://www.kansascity.com/2013/06/06/4277666/beignet-in-the-city-marketsp...

Re: Union Hill Development
This project is for real. I was contacted to do aerials for them and turned them down because I'm not in KC anymore. This is an amazing project, I hope they can get it done. Awesome. I'm kind of floored by this news. Am I missing something obvious or is this not a really big deal for the urban core...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
Maybe Crate and Barrel would go for this space...can't believe they passed up all the Plaza traffic for a mundane strip center spot way out south. I think this outcome is unlikely, but given that the Halls building is nothing too special, it would be awesome if Crate and Barrel built a store on the...

Re: Union Hill Development
KEM Studio just shared an awesome rendering of a building called 29 Gillham they've designed as what I suspect to be part of this larger development. Medium density, 22 units, does not appear to have street level commercial, but rather ground floor residential units. Located at the corner of 29th an...

Re: Troost developments
My impression of the fight to stop a dollar store from opening on Troost is that the opposition is based on elitist fear and bigotry. People of means who equate a dollar store with a plasma center or a check-cashing store. Fear of the poor and unwashed. Tell me what I'm missing, if I am. You're mis...

What happened tonite? Lost for the second night in a row to the Astros in front of about 37 fans. Will most likely get swept by the worst franchise in all of Major League Baseball. Oh, and Wade Davis was awful again. His WHIP is now 1.95, ranking 110th out of 111 starting pitches. Just the Royals b...
