Re: hyde park: believe the hype?

Have you spoken to anyone who lives at 16th and Summit? No. I have a vague recollection that there was a lawsuit. And I know they had to replace a bunch of the stucco. I'm not saying all the Urban Coeur buildings were winners-- variety of architects, variety of builders -- or that they were all att...

John Hoffman's responsible for most of the development on the east side of Gillham in the Crown Center/Martini Corner area, as well as in just about any other urban infill neighborhood in town. Everything he has built is high quality and well planned. He's one of the long-term good guys as far as d...

Re: Renovations of apartment buildings along Armour Blvd.

Taking TIF money (or any tax subsidy or other incentive) comes with a lot of strings. "Free money" is never really free (unless you're a Pendergast). If they can make it work financially without the incentives, I think most developers would prefer to do without.

Yeah, South Plaza and Mission Hills have higher peaks, but south JoCo is a much larger plateau.

OK, guys. Help take care of them. Burrito Bros. is open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. It plans to expand its hours in the spring, staying open until 8 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and until 5 p.m. Sundays. http://www.kansascity.com/2014/01/06/4733128/the-city-market-is-filling-up.html#storylink=cpy

If you have any sort of government contract, you have to do testing.

Re: bookish Kansas City

I actually liked The Huntsman better than King of Kings County . Bonus points for the fact that a character goes on the lam and ends up squatting with the other vagrants in the President Hotel. I've been meaning to read Mr. Bridge and Mrs. Bridge . Thanks for prompting me to put them on my to-read l...

I thought they were probably talking about the River Quay revitalization attempt in the 70s and 80s.

Re: Prospect MAX

Lots and lots of people ride the 39 bus. I understand the appeal of lines bringing people into downtown, but we also need to be moving people across Midtown. I kinda feel like we need to focus a little on that before another N-S line. Sorry about getting off the Prospect topic.

Is there any momentum toward trying to get an east-west Max, like along 39th street for instance?

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

Please don't put her in the East or West Bottoms. She'll be a pain again in ten years when the same thing happens. There are plenty of good industrial buildings north of the river on Burlingyon. I think 10 years for the East Bottoms is a little . . . optimistic. There might be a little node around ...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

A business that sells air filters probably shouldn't be in neighborhood that is trying to reinvent itself as a residential/commercial destination. It seems like the East or West Bottoms or some other industrial setting would be better for everyone and closer to her customers.

I would be very surprised if they did. Donuts are deep-fried, not baked, and very, very few bakeries have the necessary equipment.

Yeah, we've had a problem with this on-and-off in our River Market location. Finally installed camera, and signs announcing the cameras, in response. No thefts since then, but that might just be a coincidence.
