Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Agreed with all above. Think it would also be great and get voters excited to see those potential upgrades to the fan and player experience as week as better transit to the stadium and improvements to the general area be it new hotels, apartments, sidewalks, streetscapes, etc. That whole interchange...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
So much speculation. So many IFs here and there. Basically, they know that Clay alone can't fund the stadium but if both together could have a combined tax then they (hypothetically) get Royals in NKC and whatever the Chiefs want. That doesn't make sense because its solving a problem that doesn't ex...

Re: Columbus Park Redevelopment
The for sale housing inventory in CP has always been very low. People don’t have a lot of options.

Re: Capping the Loop
Thanks for posting all this, Chris. If this is executed anything like what's presented here, I think it will forever change people's perception of downtown. Honestly after seeing the video rendering and details now I think it could be on par or greater than impact from the Royals going to EV This s...

Re: Capping the Loop
Is that a playground/aerial walk thing like a slide? Looks really great. Closing Walnut is fine but Main needs to be made like an optional Transit only corridor during certain times, like big events that will clog main with cars.

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
You really think destroying and developing thousands of acres of natural habitat is an excellent use of land and a way to be a good steward for the world? 🤔🤷 The land is not "natural." It's farmland that has previously been clear-cut. Yes, solar is a better use of this farmland than hay f...

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
Solar on your house is much more expensive than getting power through an electrical line and would only make sense on a large project with a massive government subsidy. And no one is putting wind turbines in their Brookside house so line loss is a very big issue. Sure, batteries are getting better ...

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
Let's be ACTUALLY honest. Wind and Solar is now just as cheap as coal and has been competitive for awhile and the technology is getting better every year. You can also put solar panels on any building so there is no line loss as you are producing the energy where it's being used, not miles away lik...

Re: 4627 Madison
Any reason given for a gigantic garage? Will this project need to replace offixe parking? Maybe a phase two? I could see a large garage here aiding in the neighboring office building's needs to the north and maybe result in a smaller garage for 47Madison across the street (granted with the product ...

Hawthorn Bank is coming to Valley View Shops at Shoal Creek per the "Coming Soon" sign. This is where my grandparents bank out in small town MO and they like them, but we definitely don't need another bank branch up here there are a zillion. Tried to go to Fareway on Sunday but it's closed...

EV has just as much possibility as NKC. Until the official announcement comes down, everything is just speculation.

I literally couldn't care less about the ferris wheel. London has the Eye, Paris has one, who cares it's just another thing. Why should people be bothered about it? It's good marketing if anything.

Chase Bank has been expanding throughout KC metro rapidly. IIRC we were one of the largest markets for Chase without physical locations. Retail is hard to fill right now, especially new spaces. Yes, it's 'another bank,' but hopefully, a legacy bank like that will stay long term and more filled store...

Re: Capping the Loop
I don't think closing main is a near term goal, at least downtown. Certainly to get future parking funneled away from the streetcar. I've talked to people involved and they rightly think it's going to fuck the streetcar. And they rightly say stop building massive garages that feed into these street...

https://youtu.be/_gKrW_aj75I?si=sr28YCNLDS4vuIro Interesting short video from RM Transit. Not sure if completely applicable to KC as our transit network is very limited and population much below cities mentioned in video (Denver, Miami, Portland, Seattle) but in essence he argues that (in a vacuum) ...

I live in this area. Stinks they are closing as it was a nice affordable option. I didn’t notice any staffing shortages but I didn’t go here a ton. The building is quite large. Hopefully it doesn’t take forever to re lease. The former restaurant behind it sat unoccupied forever until a bank moved in.

Overheard on flight from midway on Southwest had several connecting passengers. El Paso and OKC. They were trying to rush and get off the plane because they were nervous about connection times at unfamiliar airport. Gates were right next to each other. KC > Midway > to OKC or the opposite? KC doesn...
