Never is a pretty bold prediction for a town that already lost their professional baseball team twice.

Re: KC in TV and Movies

"Kansas City" is overwhelmingly recognized as Altman's worst movie. Only good thing in it was the music and the recurring use of the Moten Swing. By whom? I'm happy you read others' opinions to tell you how to think. I don't know if I have ever read any serious Altman film criticism, just...

Re: The KC City Flag

The fountain heart still feels 70s-ish to me. Nothing about this version feels like it will catch on as a symbol of civic pride. Hell the heart shape with KC in it from Charlie Hustle even feels fresher than this. I think the fountain-heart, which obviously I'm gonna refer to as the fheart because ...

Re: Restoration of City Control Over KCPD

Jefferson City controlling anything in this city bothers me a lot more than where cops sleep. I find it pretty distasteful that they want to come play cowboy here and scramble off to Lee's Summit at night, but it's small potatoes compared to the state - especially this state, which is unquestionably...

Re: 2022 Senate Race

Missouri is a lost cause. A total, unmitigated shithole. Eric Schmitt is basically a dorkier, straight version of Josh Hawley and he's going to shellack Valentine. This is going to be one of the least interesting Senate races ever.

Re: Can KC Secede and join Kansas?

I would sign a petition to secede and form a city-state, and would think hard about signing one to join Kansas (a place I fled for the greener pastures of KCMO nearly 25 years ago). Missouri is a lost cause. It has one of the top 5 worst state governments in the country.

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

Hm? I don't want to derail the thread even more, but Denver's urbanized area is approaching 3 million and KC's is 1.6. Their urbanized area is also twice as dense, plus the rest of the front range urbanized areas are close. The 1990s "Denver is just KC with mountains"-era was 30 years ago...

What industry or phenomenon is sustaining all this growth in Nashville? What planning did Nashville undertake (which maybe KC could emulate) to stimulate this growth? 1. College kids and adults who act like college kids. It's a shell game. It was Portland in the 90s, Austin in the Aughts and now Na...

Also what are you guys on about with Denver and Nashville? Of course they are busier and more bustling than KC. Those are not peer cities. Denver is almost twice the size of KC. The difference between them is about the same as the difference between Denver and DC or Philly. And Nashville is not a ci...
