Re: 50s/Main development

When I toured the units at 51Main Monday, they strongly hinted that Justus was going to open Black Dirt there, they just really couldn't say anything yet. The units, although very nice were out of my price range. It's a great location to be sure.

Re: Uber/Lyft ride-sharing in Kansas City

Although I didn't tip in LA, one ride was from the new Fogo back to Venice beach where we were staying. The driver had mentioned how much he wanted to try Fogo de Chao so I gave him a couple of buy one/get one coupons. He seemed pretty happy with that, about a $100 value all together. But in the fut...

Re: Uber/Lyft ride-sharing in Kansas City

This is a cut and paste from Uber's website You don’t need cash when you ride with Uber. Once you arrive at your destination, your fare is automatically charged to your credit card on file — there’s no need to tip. I had thought when I signed up that it said the tip is included, but I don't see that...

Re: Uber/Lyft ride-sharing in Kansas City

The driver I had before him, though, was very knowledgeable and disregarded her GPS because she knew what events were going on downtown and what streets to avoid due to the likelihood of congestion. She got a nice fat tip. :) So, should you add a tip normally or just when someone has went above and...

I'll second that on Wabash BBQ. They have some nice concerts in the summer.

Re: Do you have or plan to get Google Fiber?

Thanks, I just have the one TV on Fiber and the rest on TimeWarner. I'll have to run a cable back to the bedroom if I want a box at the other end. I have TW on the other TV's because it's included in our HOA and we have a channel dedicated to the front entry and i would not have that if I switch all...

Re: Do you have or plan to get Google Fiber?

I've had Google fiber with the TV package for some time now and over all pretty happy with it. My only complaint is that since I live in a concrete building the Wifi doesn't extend all the way to the back rooms as strong as I would like. They only made one drop and won’t add any others. And that dro...

2nd floor at the bottom of the escalators, where the book store used to be. Next to Chips Chocolate Factory. They have a great space, as does Shang's Tea and Jade shop.

Re: Crown Center: urban disaster, shining star, or in-betwee

Nancy and I also had lunch there today. I had the Charcuterie plate and Nancy had the half sandwich and soup. It was all really good. Phillip from Milano was the server/bartender. He said the food was prepared at the hotel kitchen and brought over. A very nice atmosphere and I can see having a drink...

Re: Crown Center: urban disaster, shining star, or in-betwee

I was really impressed by what they have done. It hit the target of a high end shopping area. Although the only thing I can probably afford will be a drink at the bar, I'm really glad Hallmark has invested 10 million in my neighborhood. Now if they can do something with Milano Crown Center will be e...

Re: downtown vs burbs

It just seemed like he had such a mindset that suburbs = safe and city= dangerous. As if living in the suburbs guaranteed that you would not suffer any crime. And that we in the city lived in fear. I feel completely safe in the city. I’m glad he asked a group of lawyers when he thought the city woul...

It was a fun event. I hope they have it next year so I can bring a chair and small cooler. We just walked around for a couple of hours. They seemed to have the bands separated enough so the music did not bleed from one venue to another.

Re: Urban Living Pet Peeves

Cars are my biggest pet peeve. Blocking crosswalks, speeding, running red lights, especially turning left after it goes to red. They never seem to think about the people crossing get the walk signal and then here comes someone blowing right by them. And the parking habits of so many have been mentio...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

M&S Grill is closing on the Plaza, If not already shut down. The rumor is Morton's Grille will take it's place in 10 to 12 weeks. That place was never the same after Landry's took over and some questionable management moves a few months ago doomed it. I had a lot of fun there over the years and ...

I've been there a few times since it opened. Just have to think they are going to be around for a while. They really hit the ground running, are always staffed, and the food I've had there has been great. Never did visit the other locations but I do like this one. Pretty good happy hour food prices ...
