No. It's a new shopping center adjacent to Schlitterbahn in KCK, next door to the new Dairy Farmers of America headquarters.

Yes. Definitely looks like one. About time they broke ground on developing that area next to the waterpark.

Re: Oak Park Mall - Nordstrom Leaving
I wonder when the fourth floor of the men's store was walled off? I remember when they sold electronics up there. Kind of weird that they now have escalators to nowhere. I can't read the Biz Journal article but I could see someone like Alamo Drafthouse repurpose some of the space. Their theater in ...

Re: OFFICIAL: Zona Rosa (tenants & phase II)
I actually heard the theaters would be closing. Those are actually well-run and maintained. A shame that they have gotten a bad rep from the occasional problems with teens. It would be a big project to gut that building (again) to put something else in. I almost think they might try condos instead,...

Re: Schlitterbahn Waterpark and Resort
The Village South development won't have a convention center and hotel. Just a couple of new (smaller) hotels. The Wyandotte Daily article specifically says they are being looked at for Village South. Not to get too caught up in semantics, but I read "hotels and a conference center" diffe...

HomeGoods confirmed for Fresh Market space. Can't see the REI crowd shopping there much.

This is still years from being fully built out. A lot could change in their industry, in transportation, etc. But if no one else invests in that area it will be a very odd island.

If so, that would be long after they get their Overland Park location up and running. They are taking their time on that location (now aiming at a fall opening).northlander152 wrote:There was a rumor floating around Nextdoor that Q39 is going in behind AMC Barrywoods.

Re: Metcalf South Update
With the recent announcement of more Sears/Kmart stores closings, I wonder if the developers have plans for the Sears store/site if that location should close in the next few years. In the meantime will Sears give the store an exterior facelift? I would think the side that is currently attached to t...

Re: Ward Parkway Mall just sighed up
I think the Macy's at Oak Park Mall was where Dillard's Men is now. I clearly remember a Macy's name plate embedded in the sidewalk outside the store before all the expansion happened in the 90s. Although I guess it's possible I'm remembering a Stix name plate...

Uh, yes, there is a Winstead's on 95th, just west of Quivira. Unless it closed.

And of course they are asking for incentives. As usual. But I hope they do something nice there; it's been ugly for years.

Re: Homegoods
HomeGoods seems to be a discount version of Bed, Bath & Beyond; this could be the most "upscale" development they have been in. Seems like an odd choice with their neighbor being REI, which is definitely not discount. But it beats an empty building.

Looks like the office towers are a long way off, and any retail as well. Not much "mixed" about this basically giant apartment complex:

Re: 39th St./KU Med development?
The new hospital tower is popping up in distant vistas all over town in unexpected places. The little bit of height combined with the location above the Turkey Creek valley are making it a landmark. It looms over the timberline looking west along 39th at Broadway, and from I-35 either direction. Ye...
