Squire Park
I've really fallen for the eastern Hyde Park (along Harrison b/w 39th and Armour) and Squire Park neighborhoods, and I'm particularly intrigued by Squire Park. Many of the homes in the little SP pocket are gorgeous or potentially so, and their location east of Troost must make them relatively affo...

Re: The Future of Crown Center
^^^ or, they'll choose option 4, non of the above, and sit on their tidy earnings much as they do the real estate wasteland between a quickly redeveloping Union Hill and the edge of a still thriving Crown Center. You would think there might even be some strong potential for some type of student hou...

Re: Bikes at the P+L District
I emailed Cordish some time ago and was told that bike racks were absolutely going to be within the district, though there was no mention of where. Seems it wouldn't be very difficult to find a spot for them, even if it was on the Truman Rd. side near the surface parking.

Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District
regarding foot traffic throughout downtown: there may not be a large amount of people milling about in the central loop, but the increase in people in/near the P&L, in freezing mid-march, has been very dramatic. I've come away extremely impressed with the life that the half-complete P&L has...

Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District
Are you guys trying to say that what has been announced thus far is everything that has signed on with Cordish at this point (i.e. they aren't holding out any last big-name tenants)? That would be terribly disappointing, despite how satisfyingly well the district has turned out thus far. I assume ...

Re: The Star: Pull Union Station out of mediocrity
thanks Grid. Good to hear the penny pinching has not been limited to this side of the state. At any rate the new bridge over there looks impressive; it seems to use the same design as our new Paseo, only four each of the four suspension structures. I don't know if the design has been trimmed as w...

Re: Could the P+L be a flop?
there's no way this thing will be considered a flop, in the terms of anyone that uses it. I don't particularly care if part of the city's general fund goes is used to aid the financing. To me, who uses and will use the P&L frequently, it represents an excellent use of city dollars :). The fis...

Re: The Star: Pull Union Station out of mediocrity
I was under the impression that the Mississippi river bridge in StL was just approved...if so that's a massive ($600 million or more) project for MoDot to tackle in addition to the aforementioned projects, even if it jointly funded by Illinois. So you can add one more to the list. And unless they'...

Re: Arena Parking Challenge
Insert Quote you would think the ATA would maintain 10-15 minute headways all day during the tournament. oh, you would think. But don't count on it. As someone that has never, repeat, never had excessive difficulty parking downtown for P&L, Lyric, Bartle, etc., I am finally becoming worried t...

Re: Kansas City Budget
^^^that's a smart take, Bahua. While I believe the school district probaby does more to harm KCMO than any other single factor (perception of crime and poor minorities maybe coming in second), I don't think it will need to become the SM District overnight (which will never happen, anyway) for a lar...

^^ I agree that this would be a great fit out at Village West, but I believe they were unable to get STAR bonds to help finance the project. I thought VW was actually their first choice prior to Lee's Summit. Does anyone know better than I do the history there? I really, really, hope that this lan...

Re: TSC Renovations
thanks for the pics. it's looking good so far, although I can't for the life of me believe that they won't have the crown on top of the scoreboard by opening day. I really feel HOK has done a great job on the renovation plan; the right field bar, Royals HOF, new outfield seating, 360 concourse an...

Re: OFFICIAL - Performing Arts Center construction
Grid I hear you =D> But, I'll return this to topic. I was wondering if there is still a possibility of the third hall being built at the PAC, if financing eventually comes through? Is this still a long term option or is the space simply going to sit empty or be used for something else? It seems t...

Re: OFFICIAL - Performing Arts Center construction
the market doesn't have to fully support any project downtown - they should still be TIF'd out the wazoo, greased along etc. until a gradual lessening in incentive is truly warranted by private sector demand, i.e. not yet. The city will never 'run out' of the ability to provide cuts of future , pro...

Re: will you hang out in the power and light district?
Yes, I do and will hang out in P&L. While McFadden's is certainly not my speed, being in there on a Friday or Saturday night still tends to make me happy simply because it's f-ing packed with youngin's right on 14th and Grand. I suppose I'm still not used to it yet. I rather like Vinino, actu...

Re: Tampa Bays "Sailboat" Stadium
yeah, I find that stadium to be unbelievably sweet. Maitre D, you'd be pleased to know that perhaps not a day goes by that I don't imagine a new downtown park in KC. As I've been salivating in anticipation of baseball season all winter and milling about the now buzzing P&L District, I can't he...

Re: Wonderscope, Childrens Museum to Merge
I'd love to see this new combined Children's Museum land in downtown KCK. It's exactly the kind of smaller-scale regional amenity that could pump some life into the area and also add to a centralized destination in greater downtown. Imagine this and the new aqaurium at the Gateway being dropped in...

Re: Power & Light District cowboy sign
I don't think the sign looks that bad, particularly if it's for Big Sky. One a very side note, however, I've always wanted to see the West Bottoms take off in some cool kind of saloon, western kind of way. Or any kind of way, really, but I think it would be cool to have an 'old stock yards' kind o...

Re: Omaha: Considering building a new DT ballpark
that Stein character sounds like a bit of a jackass. I love that the AAA Royals are in Omaha and I'd hate to see them leave. This seems to me to be the perfect opportunity to build a sweet new downtown park for the CWS and the O Royals. Man, I'd love to see something like Autozone Park in DT Memp...
