Re: New Convention Hotel
Sure, it's not as tall, but it really isn't that bad. And perhaps this building will help the city continue to grow so that we can have some of the more exciting high rises that growing cities lure in.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
Just excited thinking about the extension, so I was wondering: what are the odds of the streetcar being (almost) completely center running and going closer to its max speed on the rest of Main? This would definitely make it more practical and efficient. Also, have any grocery stores solicited inform...

Re: NHL OR NBA, let the message board decide!!
If Bluhawk goes through with its arena, couldn't the USHL team play there with the Wolves playing at the Sprint Center? From what I've read, a USHL team would be in a smaller arena, whereas AHL teams play in larger venues.

Re: On-going downtown development projects
It will be interesting to see, but it is at least coming at a time in the city's history when there is genuine desire to build things downtown, regardless of the incentives (for the time being). I know it is a small example and not directly in the area being discussed, but the mixed use apartment c...

Looking Ahead: 2020 DNC/RNC to Kansas City
It's early, but the search will begin soon enough for the host cities. Is there any interest in or talk of trying to come up with a bid for either the RNC or DNC in 2020? I think we will be in a much better position to host than in 2016.

Re: Arabia Steamboat Museum Looking for New Home
The Star: New treasure awaits Steamboat Arabia crew The gist of it is that the people behind the Arabia museum are probably finally going to begin a full excavation of another sunken steamboat next year. They've needed more exhibit space for years, and will need still more if they dig up what they ...

Re: Missouri Amtrak Service
This could be a question for Dave, but recently I've been thinking about the Missouri River Runner. How much would more frequent service cost, and do the freight railroads determine how many times passenger trains can travel on the tracks per day? I know the state's allocated amount for this line do...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
This may be a pie in the sky idea, but what if there was a "station" of sorts in the midtown area for the streetcar. It could serve as a connecting point, kind of like Ogilvie in Chicago. Visiting Chicago always makes me happy that KC is starting to be a real city, however slowly that may ...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
This is a pretty interesting article. I didn't know there was a tunnel that ran from downtown into the West Bottoms. I wonder if someday the tunnel could be restored and used for a streetcar connection to the area. http://kcur.org/post/8th-street-tunnel-gateway-kansas-citys-history-you-probably-cant...

Re: Amenities missing from downtown
Just returned from a weeklong visit to KC. The one thing I really noticed about DT KC was the near complete lack of fast food joints. Not that I'm a big connoisseur of fast food or would like to see more but the absence is noteworthy. With more foot traffic, I wonder if they will be re-appearing. I...

27th & Gillham/ 27th & Troost (Milhaus & UC-B)
Just checked Milhaus' website and noticed there's also a listing for 27th and Troost (on the east side of Troost). More info to come soon. Nice to see interest there, even if it's still just on Troost and not further east.
