Re: Uptown Theatre district improvements
Shio is better. Komatsu is decent - and a bit more affordable as mentioned. Columbus Park is easily better than both. I haven't been to whatever occupies the Pizza Bella space on Baltimore. With the weather getting ready to change, I'm ready for soup season.

Re: Uptown Theatre district improvements
That sucks. I've been eating there more and really like the food. Maybe Shio would be a good fit. I feel like Komatsu is kind of winning the Midtown Ramen Race - although I like Shio a bit more.

Re: Strouds
The Troost and Northland locations had a ton of character. The Fairway location was the exact opposite. I dig Stroud's sides, but there wasn't a lot to make me want to go to that Fairway location. Their chicken is OK. Their fried chops are pretty decent too.

Bar tender tipping according to... https://www.wikihow.com/Tip-a-Bartender I bartended and served - so I know what I'm doing. I'm just don't think that someone who pours me a glass of wine that I have to go fetch (spending all of 30 seconds serving me) - should expect the same 20% that someone who ...

Re: Film Row building threatened with demolition
I don't tip as much if I have to fight to get someone's attention - and then all they're doing is pouring a drink and giving it to me. In my mind, that punishes the servers who actually bring me a drink, bring me a check and take care of my table. If I'm taking up space at the bar, that's another st...

Jeez.... we saw what happened when we came for the plastic straws. Can only imagine the backlash with this.

Re: Film Row building threatened with demolition
I don't go to Bier Station, so I won't comment on that. Unless I'm at a dive bar, I just don't like having to nudge between two people having a conversation at the bar so I can order a drink. Somewhat related question: Do you tip as much if you have to go up to a bar and get a drink? Unless I'm sitt...

Re: Film Row building threatened with demolition
Stopped in for an after dinner drink on Saturday. I thought it had a weird/sterile vibe. There were two or three people that passed as employees and/or owners in there, but there isn't any table service for some reason. And I like whiskey just fine, but I don't always feel like drinking straight whi...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The renovations were '04 and the lease is through '30. I'm of the opinion that it's just fine. They could do a few more renovations to make it last another decade beyond the current end date for the lease.
I used to be for downtown ball, but I just don't have any passion for it like I used to.

I ate dinner at Krokstrom a few weeks ago and it was crowded/full. I think it was a Friday night, but still good to see.
The Pork Belly sandwich is awesome.

Re: Misc Crossroads News
Awesome. I was down there in June and we walked the highline and went by this. My 73 yr old Mom is a wimp and wouldn't walk up the eight flight of stairs, so we passed on that. It's really cool though. The Bloomberg building right there peaking into your first shot is interesting as well. Hudson Yar...

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?
I doubt it. At a certain point, all of that money comes out of the economy and benefits the owner. Just because it's not me paying all of it doesn't make it more palatable for me. This guy is going to be making money hand over fist with a new stadium. I'd like to see him invest in it. I'd like to th...

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?
I would support partial public dollars to support this, but I wouldn't vote for anything that requires tax payers to cover more than about 1/3 (approx $300-$400M) of the new stadium.

I have no problem disliking both the Cubs and Cardinals, so I like to think I can adapt and still dislike the Fire quite a bit.beautyfromashes wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2019 4:37 pm If, “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” holds true, does this make us in an alliance with Chicago? &

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?
I may be wrong but will the new Royals owner be the poorest of the 30 others? First and foremost, Sherman is clearly worth more than Glass, so that's all that REALLY matters. Everything I've found on the Internet lists Sherman's net worth at $1-$1.5B. I don't think anyone can say for sure because o...

At this point, if you go Steamers, you're just letting Cleveland off the hook and forever tying your franchise to a sex act.

Maybe the folks on the new campus are filling those places. Everyone here at The Legends thinks the urban core is a blighted war zone with no value. Even the young ones.
