The project sounds great to this union hill resident. Looking forward to more details!

Re: Downtown Overland Park

I understand and it was asked in jest. Just another marketing term misused by the real estate industry along the lines of 'lofts' and 'luxury'. We already had the term 'cocktail lounge' which sounds classy enough. I only skimmed the article but it didn't seem like it would be open to the public, jus...

What exactly does a speakeasy denote? As far as I know, consumption of alcohol is still legal in the United States.

Re: Misc Crossroads News

Address must be wrong. Aren't odd numbers on the east side of oak? 1518 would be west side and nothing is there besides the press building. There's a 2 story @ 1517 oak.

I had no idea the parking lot next to the former 'Hammer Bros' building was so complex! Lol

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

KC Royals subreddit community seemed pretty supportive, and these are not your casual fans. As can be expected, they were lamenting the loss of the K and all the memories formed there but they were also excited about the prospect of downtown baseball (perhaps because they have traveled to see the Ro...

Re: Main & Armour - Mac Properties

Great info. Thanks!
For the potential additional 24 to 48 units, did you mean the SW corner of Armour & Baltimore? NE corner is the self storage building.

Re: 4930 Grand Ave Condos

^This looks to be the old US Bank building, 4901 Main. They've recently started tearing the hideous metal cladding off that they put up several years ago and are removing the parking garage now. From the rendering, it looks like they will be adding another level on top with outdoor space and removi...

Re: 4930 Grand Ave Condos

^ VanTrust has some conceptual renderings for an office building there: https://vantrustrealestate.com/property/4901-main/ Not sure if that is still the plan. Maybe a CompassKC ninja here can find a development plan? https://vantrustrealestate.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Featured-Image.jpg https:...

Re: Columbus Park Redevelopment

The land fronting Cherry should be the last piece they build on, at this point. With the removal of the MO 9 HWY overpass on the boards, Cherry Street will become the 'welcome mat / front door' to Columbus Park from the River Market. I just hope they are not facing their 'backs' to it since it is cu...

Re: Three Light

Look at those balconies...I guess that means they are highly confident that the highway cap park project is proceeding. Isn't that why the balconies on 2L don't appear until halfway up the building (due to highway noise?).

Re: Bike Lanes

The sidewalks along this stretch aren't the best (like in most of this city). In some spots too narrow to allow anything but single file, due to tree roots and other reasons many places it is an uneven tripping hazard, many ada ramps are non-existent, and in some places there is no sidewalk at all (...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Not popular on here but I’m even in favor of it going on grand and demolishing the printing press building. The stretch of buildings on grand including the strip club and cigar box looks like utter crap. Even the exterior signage looks run down and not something you’d expect to see in the heart of ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Oh, see that's not the boundaries I'm thinking of. Holmes isn't even close. I'm basing it off what KCDowntown was proposing. First of all, forget about the printing press- if we build a stadium there just tear that down and build over it. Grand to Oak/Locust, Truman to 17th - this is 4 blocks and m...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

It's walkable and dense all the way around and through with great buildings. The plan would literally tear out what you claim is such a benefit. Most of it would still be intact. I did a walk around what would be the area of the stadium and it still would maintain its character around the entire st...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

I just think Crossroads would be exceptional because one of the very rare downtown stadiums that isn't hindered by a highway or giants surface lots on any side of it. It's walkable and dense all the way around and through with great buildings. You couldn't create something like that in EV even if y...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

A northwest orientation would be a big outlier within the MLB. the red arrows in that graph are indoor stadiums where orientation isn't an issue. There are a lot more oriented southeast. If north loop is still in play you could do that and have killer views plus be right on the streetcar stop.
