I think I finally got the concept. It is the 1950's sci fi flying saucer.
All we need now is Michael Rennie and the big robot coming out of an opening and walkway on the side.

Speed Entrapment & the City
I think if an officer catches someone going 20 over he should be able to shoot the offender in the right foot. There is absolutely no excuse for driving significantly faster than surrounding traffic. It serves no purpose-- you don't actually get anywhere any sooner. What is one suppose to do when a...

Prediction: Knights go belly-up
At least the Outlaws are in a league that will exist. The Knights are in a league that is in deep doo doo. You can include the Comets in the latter statement.

My Soap Box on KC Development
Your soapbox you are standing on is made of cardboard instead of wood. Much of what you are ranting about is not due to one man but to many. And your future projects will not happen because of just one person. However, I hope that you feel better getting all of that off of your chest.

Speed Entrapment & the City
One thing I found out that was unique about MO was they sent me a thing that said if I paid a lawyer a $100 retainer fee plus court cost that they could get the ticket off my record. Their were nor guarantees and if it didn't work I would still have the ticket to pay. I can't remember what this was...

Re: Plaza Tennis
Reality check: They can get around that through a lease arrangement. You're correct, it's not going to happen, but don't put too much trust in any law, system or rule to protect you or something dear, vigilance is the best defense. This is dedicated park land. In order for the City/Parks Dept. to d...

Plaza Tennis Center
I didn't know that it was publically owned. Since it is on the Plaza, I thought it was a high dollar private place. I have a good friend that is a tennis lover -- what does it take for him to get in there and play? Show up. Not sure of the fees. They are public courts, just like the golf courses.

No Vendor Zone around Bartle
There are many issues that come with this subject. 1. The street vendors are in competition with the food vendor in the Hall. The City does derive revenue from the hall vendor but none from the street vendors. 2. Barney's was open for a few summers a few years ago with minimal rent but the operators...

Re: OFFICIAL - Arena construction
UMB should've donated that crappy, worthless land to the city...period. How's that for knowing what I'm talking about? TK, I suppose that if you had ownership of the land you would donate it. UMB is entitled to do what ever they desire as long as they own the property, much like anyone else in the ...

Looking for Acct internship, any reccomendations?
Most of my working career was spent as an accountant. However, only four years would have been taking care of books or auditing. The remainder was spent supervising payroll, accts. payable, accts rec., and budgeting among other duties. So most of my career was spent as an administrator. I agree with...

Why The Public Should Not Pay For Convention Centers
Does that mean this community should not support a downtown stadium and improvements to Arrowhead? What about the city's support for the Sprint Arena? It means that they should be primarily privately financed, rather than taxpayer financed. I know. But you say "primarily". Please further ...

Why The Public Should Not Pay For Convention Centers
Studies have shown the same effect for arenas and stadiums. Does that mean this community should not support a downtown stadium and improvements to Arrowhead? What about the city's support for the Sprint Arena?

It's funny. He is going back to how KC use to be. Codes and much of Enviromental Mangement use to be part of Public Works.

According to Wed's paper the Knights are bouncing payroll checks and the league is losing teams. (How many teams are in the league anyway?)
Looks pretty good at this time that my prediction about the MISL and the ABA might come true afterall.

Looking for Acct internship, any reccomendations?
When I graduated from UMKC over 30 years ago with accounting emphasis most of the accounting classes were taught with the idea that one would go to work with a CPA firm. That still the case? If the previously posted suggestions don't pan out try a part time job with a company doing accounts payable ...

What region do Kansas Citians identify with most?
I say none of the above. What we are is a midwest city, or mostly area. St. Louis has the arch and is called the gateway to the west but the way I see it Kansas City was. It was at KC where one took a trail to Santa Fe, California, or Oregon. It was the last big town before you would hit the old wes...

Why The Public Should Not Pay For Convention Centers
Convention business was an attraction for many communities because it was a "CLEAN" industry. That is jobs were provided but pollution was minimal as compared to auto plants, etc. Convention Centers were to complement other investments made by the community, such as airports, and investmen...

Markups are not great on TV's, receivers, computers, and so on, especially sale items. What has the markup? Batteries, camera bags, camcorder bags, film, cables, and so on. I asked an employee friend of mine and a camera bag he bought on employee price was $7, retail $17. Memory $90, retail $130. An...
