Re: Crate & Barrel to fill the vacated Saks locale
If highwoods does develop the saks building into multiple units, I hope they devise a better design then the former bonwit teller department store. The bonwit teller used to be where victoria's secret and limited is today and the existing building doesn't really adhere to the plaza's architectural ...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
ok. i'm really disappointed in highwoods, they're adding another local store (lilliebelle) with very little prestige or potential in drawing more people to the plaza.

Here's a link to the HOK architects design of the nascar hall of fame. From the description it doesn't sound too bad....

Re: Lawrence gets another new condo development....
Villanche was actually halted a few months ago. Supposedly the team could not find enough buyers (i.e. the units were overpriced..some were going for $800K). However Hobbs Taylor is on schedule and based on what I've heard this new development is as well.

Re: Sprint Center Construction Photos
I'm sure someone's already answered this but does anyone know if the final designs have been released? I'm guessing that the design team is pretty close since they've already started tearing down the old buildings.

Re: OFFICIAL - Performing Arts Center construction
I want to see a downtown ballpark as much as anyone, but the hilltop space should stay for the PAC. I see putting money into the Lyric the same as when we decided to remodel Kemper Arena several years ago. The lyric is currently a horrible venue which might become ok with renovations. Why should we...

Re: Downtown Housing Units
there was a pretty good article in the wall street journal today that talked about the housing boom in downtown kansas city. in general the article was pretty positive but it did express some amount of skepticism as to whether or not we could fill all of these new units. unfortunately to see this ...

Take a look at the article concerning Garmin's new ad with Yao Ming. I think this is great news for a local Kansas City firm. If anything I think the metro area needs more home grown companies like this that are on the fast track.

Re: World's tallest tower
I expressed my opinion on SSP about this issue, but since you bring it up here, i will mention what I think again. There is no way in hell that the Burj Dubai is going to be anywhere near as tall as they claim it will be. If you have been watching the project over the last few months, you will know...

Re: Crate & Barrel to fill the vacated Saks locale
I think everyone's overreacting to this latest announcement. keep in mind just because C+B opens up a store in johnson county does not mean it won't consider a second site somewhere else in the metropolitan area. i used to live in denver and C+B first opened up stores in the southern and northern ...

Scooterj, It's good to have you back and great pics. You're right though, things should start picking up now that they've laid the foundation. The next couple of months will be exciting as the building starts to take shape. [I'm alive and back out in the world again! :) I get confined for 2 weeks an...
