Re: OFFICIAL - Hampton Inn (16th & Main)
Is this building not going to have windows facing DT or have they just not cut the openings for them yet? Seems strange if they don’t have windows with a view. Might be because the lot to the north could build and block the windows. All four sides face downtown.... I thought it was strange that the...

You can see the underside of the balcony structure. I appreciate this articulation regarding the articulation. I knew there was something off but I couldn't put my finger on it. You're exactly right that the open balcony structure (along with the different railing) creates an unfinished look. I hav...

Must have been a different video, a hotel is not a part of this plan. I can't say any additional details, but watch for more information in the near future!

Re: H&R Block's Second Tower?
Recently saw a promo video for a possible tower on this site (directly west of H&R block tower). Won't be a new tallest or anything, but would certainly be a nice/unique addition to our skyline. I don't know any additional details or likelihood of the project happening, hoping the video is relea...

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??
From what I've heard, this is a relocation and not an expansion. I hope I'm wrong, as I'll miss the short lived action down in the East Bottoms.

Re: UMKC Conservatory of Music considers move to downtown
The original Downtown UMKC Conservatory proposal, which would have been located on land immediately south of the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, collapsed in January. That’s when Julia Irene Kauffman withdrew her $20 million pledge, the foundation of its private funding. She was responding...

Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project
I recently visited some of downtown OKC's waterfront. While downtown is mostly separated from the waterfront, they have done a great job of providing recreational opportunities along the waterfront. Among other things, they have located a ferris wheel, built an artificial white water rapids course (...

Golden Ox apparently reopens this Friday (June .
Amazing, I thought this idea was dead, as I hadn't heard anything for what seems like years. Best of luck to them, although I feel like their marketing could have been a little better.

Re: Electric Park Neighborhood (East Bottoms)
It's got a similar problem to a lot of the stores in the City Market proper. The facilities are just hard to keep clean-looking and are outdated. The meat is not presented in an organized way, and there is a different layout every week. Everything about the place is haphazard, and even if it is gre...

Should never have to sit down and figure numbers when there's free spreadsheet software available to do it for you. Enter $250k in A1, enter =A1*1.05 in A2 and fill down to row 25. Then use sum in A26 to get the total. Takes 20 seconds. I don't comment on here a lot, and this shitty, condescending ...

Local Pig is expanding. I wasn't sure if it was relocation or expansion, so I figured I'd start the rumor mill...but, thats great to hear it is an expansion! week+ ago i asked the guy behind the counter if there was anything going on and he avoided the question so i said "well if you're gonna ...

Just walked by the building and can confirm that the stained glass has been installed in the Savoy Grill portion of the hotel. Great to see it back!smh wrote:FWIW, the grill end of the building is the only portion without windows right now--perhaps the stained glass will make an appearance.

KCMO Historic Preservation recently posted pics of the interior of 21c that should put to rest any concern for the historic portion of Savoy Grill. This hotel will be top notch!

Re: OFFICIAL - 21c Museum Hotel KC (former Savoy Hotel)
They have begun the first floor glazing on the east side of the building, so far none of the original stained glass windows have been used. Looking at the rendering, it does appear that they intend to incorporate the stained glass, just not over the whole window.
