Re: Garmin Expansion
Garmin probably wants to get into the car dashboard business to replace the OEM units. The OEM car units are pretty much the only GPS devices left where you still see companies charging exorbitant prices to upgrade the maps. I remember prior to 3 to 5 years ago it was somewhat pricey to get map upgr...

Re: We need a new airport!!!
Doesn't matter to me where in Metro, KC direly needs a new airport if it wants to get out of minor league status, well from bottom tier of major league anyway. Agree. Just please blow up those outdated terminals and rebuild somehow, somewhere. I will say, however, that I enjoy KCI pulling the relat...

Re: We need a new airport!!!
New Century had already looked at commercial passenger service and air cargo service back in the early 2000's. If you jump ahead to page 2-11 of their master plan I linked to below you can see where they concluded commercial passenger service was not feasible. Even air cargo was found to be unfeasib...

Re: Do you have or plan to get Google Fiber?
Just got our Google fiber installed in Prairie Village. Got internet and phone to replace TWC. Didn't do Google TV since the TV boxes are $10 each after the first one. With 6 TVs, that is a significant hit over the couple of bucks a month I pay TWC for each cable card or digital converter. Google f...

Re: If you HAD to move to the Kansas side, where? (POLL)
Well, someone did post a residency requirement related to work, but outside of that the only reason I'd have to move anywhere would be related to job distance and whether I liked the commute or not. Earlier this year I changed jobs from an employer in the Briarcliff area (Northland) to an employer i...

Interesting blurb about abandoned houses

Interesting that 2/3 are actually owned by someone or some company, but no one can get hold of them.

EV Charging
Anyone know what KCP&L will be charging at their EV charging stations in 2017? The first two years charging was free, but that ends in 2017. I couldn't find anything on their site indicating what the expected cost would be after this free period ends.

Re: We need a new airport!!!
Our next planned trips are actually not even out of KCI, we are flying out of Omaha, i think we might just start flying out of other airports now until our kids are a little older. Hell, I'm sure Springfield/Branson or Manhattan Airports have more space then KCI. Springfield built a new terminal in...

Re: Metro North Mall
Without some kind of tenant that is unique to KC and/or to the Northland I just don't see this taking off with all the retail short distance in either direction over at ZR and Liberty. However, once they start building all the houses just NW of there, this area could become a hot commodity. I think ...

Re: Metro North Mall
A Costco would be nice. We already have two Sam's Clubs in the Northland with I believe a third possibly coming over by I-29 and MO-152. Yet not a one Costco.

Re: Statewide transportation sales tax coming in 2014
I'd vote yes for a fuel sales tax increase. In the KC Star article there was this quote: Kansas spends roughly five times as much per mile on highway and bridge construction than Missouri, he said. I don't have high hopes for this anymore. This purchase is at least progress, but likely means the plans for the property will be completely different. I really don't want to see this turn into a Mission Gateway project that goes on and on.

Re: I-35/Pleasant Valley Road Construction
From the plans it does look like they will be at least re-doing the section of road right in front of the QT. That road is badly washboarded from all the semi traffic.

Re: I-35/Pleasant Valley Road Construction
I look forward to it, but I think there will still be issues if it doesn't include doing something with Pleasant Valley Road on the west side of I-35. Especially if they put the shopping center in on the Liberty side. I have a feeling that will cause an increase in traffic on PV Road and that road i...

I-35/Pleasant Valley Road Construction
I noticed over the weekend there was a lot of dirt moving on the north side of Pleasant Valley Road between the north and south lanes of I-35. Is this the start of reworking the interchange? I didn't see anything on the MoDOT major projects list website.

Re: Sprouts
We've gone there a couple times now. It won't be our primary grocery location, but we do like it. It is really good for their sales, but the stuff that isn't on sale is usually cheaper at Hyvee. It may just be the new factor, but so far each time we've gone it has been pretty packed. Another bonus i...

Article mentions they started as Garden Ridge Pottery in 1979. Is this the same Garden Ridge company that used to have a giant store over by Independence Center that closed maybe 10 years ago?
