Re: 18 Cities Where the Suburbs are Rapidly Turning Into Slums

I've had some work done by a guy who buys and sell homes, he has a large surplus of homes and what he is doing with all the homes he can't sell or rent is turning them into section 8 properties so he can make something off of them, i think he said he was going to end up getting like 800 a month from...

Re: High Speed Rail

Agreed. In fact, lots of people agree that we should slash military spending. The flip side that's often overlooked is that a lot of people benefit from that spending, directly and indirectly, even when they don't realize it or don't want to admit it. For example, what would happen to Missouri's ec...

Re: Blanc Burgers & Bottles

For whatever reason, its not the $8-10 for a burger that fazes me, its the $4 for fries/rings separate of the burger that always makes me think gourmet burger places are expensvie. Blame years of the McDonald's Extra Value meal I suppose. Beer Kitchen is the same way, you have to buy the fries sepe...

I really can't really picture 5 opening up north, 3 seems most likely.

Best locations would probably be 152 and I-35 Area

The farthest from Texas would be Austin, just drive up I-35 for an hour and a half and you will be in Austin, the only place that isnt texas

Re: Touring KC's urban core on the MAX and 51 bus lines

Couldn't you get in trouble with this map if you gave it to associations, you have all these restaurants listed in crossroads but don't have lulu's, town topic, pizzabella, art of pizza or webster house and a couple others.  It's basically you own opinions on what you should see and what you should ...

Re: Westport's fate post-P&L

Speaking of pizza, has anyone ever had Santoras Pizza on 38th and Main, it might be the best pizza in the city.  Excellent NY Style pizza with fresh ingredients, great crust and sauce on the sweet side but very good.

Of the entirely new companies obtained from other metros/countries, isn't the Missouri side actually winning or is it about even?

Re: Urban Recreation in KC. Where is it?

Some engineer who works at KCMO mentioned the only reason why Kauffman was built where it is today was because it was the cheapest, largest and flattest land KC could use, if they made a better decision on the placement of Kauffman, it might have been in a better location like downtown or crossroads...

Re: Urban Recreation in KC. Where is it?

Most towns make you want to jump out of your car and into the parks.  "wow, we should have brought the bikes to take in this city" So you would want to bike through PVP on a 90 degree day in the summer?  That park is kind of hilly just to let you know. PVP is going through a roadway redesign so you...

Re: Urban Recreation in KC. Where is it?

Couldn't you say PVP is underutilized because of the shady reputation it once had.  People say that park use to be a magnet for shady activity like prostitution, drug dealing and such.  There was another thread recently about how Case Park is shady and one person was killed a botched robbery. Maybe ...

Re: 2010-2011 College Basketball Season

For all the big college programs, KU probably puts out the worst NBA talent.  The only NBA star KU has is Pierce and maybe Chalmers.  Wilt Chamberlain is hard to top for all time talent though.

UNC, Duke, Memphis and Kentucky all have decent players in the NBA right now

Re: Rankings, lists, and such

We ranked 24th for funniest cities in america and 10th for weight gain cities. The thing that irks me about these rankings is that they use Kansas City,KS as the anchor city and they even show skyline photo of KCMO!!!! I sent an email to editorial@thedailybeast.com, they also have a couple other ema...

Re: Westport's fate post-P&L

Not sure if anyone has reported this but i saw a sign for a new italian or mexican place on around 40th and Main, i think it use to be a coffee shop, the sign says Mi Familia coming soon, i think this area could be pretty cool once they do all the new streetscape stuff.
