Re: Trinity Development approved...
This is one area where tiffs were used somewhat correctly in a suburban area. They are short term tiffs, most are already paid off, the Tiffs have brought in more than a walmart, but several hundred thousand sq ft of class A office space (something needed out east), little blue river flood control,...

Re: Nelson-Atkins Expansion (YES..white glass is the end result)
I was driving back to Midtown after lunch as the Brush Creek Gates (which I might add has finally caught on and was very busy), as we drove past the Nelson, a person in the car wondered when they were going to remove the protective shed looking things and show everybody the new buildings. It will be...

Re: Leawood city employees doing a KCMO murder total betting pool
^ Goes to tell you that even a stats professor may not know what he’s talking about. There are far less people in the areas of the city where a majority of the murders occur now than in the 80’s or even the 90’s. But he’s probably right about not one factor causing the spike, I think thatâ€...

Re: Leawood city employees doing a KCMO murder total betting pool
"Sometimes it's earned, buddy." You have to be kidding me, I think MO side residents have just within the last few years started lashing back a bit at JoCo. I can give you plenty of examples (including myself) of people who had nothing against JoCo till moving there or working there or ...

Leawood city employees doing a KCMO murder total betting pool
It was on fox 4. The betting pool has been going on for weeks, fox 4 even went to the 810 Zone and asked some random dude with a KU hat on what he thought of such a betting pool and he said "he was ok with it". Seriously, people wonder why there is so much resentment toward JoCo from the ...

Re: OFFICIAL - Bartle Hall Expansion construction
It really isn't that small. The glass on both sides of the building bow outward. It couldn't really be any bigger because the site isn't very big. That hotel they have there would be about 50 (hotel) stories tall, so it's wider than you think. I can't believe they don't have better renderings than ...

Re: The Paseo (what's left of this lost treasure is fighting its way back)
The city, or at least the parks department does a great job maintaining the Paseo under it's current circumstances and surrounding demographics.kcdcchef wrote: nice shots of the paseo. unfortunately, the city allowed the real estate off of paseo to become straight ghetto over the years.

Re: Blue Parkway Towne Center
Now lets finish rebuilding Blue Parkway out to Raytown. Not shit, this should be a TOP PRIORITY for the city in the next few years. One of the main entryways into the plaza and KC deserves better. It's now nice from Elmwood all the way to the plaza and from 435 to Raytown. Finish it up down by E...

The Paseo (what's left of this lost treasure is fighting its way back)
We have all but destroyed the Paseo, one of the grandest streets in the midwest, if not the country at one time. There is not a lot of original building stock left on the Paseo, much of it has been replaced by light industrial, low income housing, or just empty lots, but there are a few clusters o...

Grid, where was that taken from? Cliff Drive - Gladstone Blvd or Chestnut Bridge over lexington? If you go to the 3500 bloc of Gladstone overlooking the entire east bottoms and NKC you can get the entire NKC skyline. It stretches from Cerner west to NKC downtown. There are several grain elevators t...

Sounds like a recipe for sprawl, highrise or not. 17 acres? ...as in revolting little pad buildings set amid parking, I take it? One of the few times you'll hear me say I'm glad it's going to the burbs and not KCMO. Yea, it's sprawl and hardly "highrise" five stories. (although on that hi...
