Re: Why did you move from KCMO to a suburb?

There is really a big difference between being low income and acting irresponsible, inconsiderately or even illegally with your property. you can be filthy rich and still be a pig like that Skip guy who owned all that land north of the stadiums on 40 highway. He ran that area like a public dump. Fo...

I think he got it confused with Mission Woods, which is getting Google Fiber and has a grand total of 77 households.

A national network isn't run quite the same as a two mile long streetcar line.

Re: Bike Lanes

I know that the average person in Kansas City is against bicycles in general and think they get in the way, and that bike lanes would be a waste of money Average person? I don't think I've ever heard a single person in KC say they are against bicycles. http://bikewalkkc.org/content/businesses-push-...

Re: Why Can't the West Bottoms Be Redeveloped....?

Pardon the ignorance, but I assume the Crossroads is pretty much developed as far as converting old buildings into apartments/condos? If so, I can really see the West Bottoms taking off. Maybe a park would make it feel more livable too.

Re: Which proposed streetcar extension will be completed fir

UMKC makes the most sense to get the Plaza/tourism connection done first. Probably something out east next.

I'm not sure if NKC makes sense if there isn't a plan to eventually expand past there in a third phase.

2,000 out of 550,000 people. It's a start, I guess.

Re: renovate hanna, demolish lane... are we still doing this

If I read the permits right, they're spending over $7 million and the permits cover the building and about everything (elevator, eletrical, fire sprinkler, plumbing, mechanical, general building itself, etc.). From Google Maps, it looks like they're probably doing something about that AC unit with t...

Re: Why did you move from KCMO to a suburb?

I still don't get why, instead of fretting about schools, people don't just buy one of the hundreds of thousands of cheaper, nicer houses in the city and then PLAN ON PAYING TUITION. More puzzling: people who live in Kansas and send their kids to private schools. I don't understand the people in Le...

Re: Google picks KCK/KCMO for ultra fast fiber network

This whole sign-up thing is really starting to feel like a marketing gimmick. If there's interested people, and that doesn't mean some arbitrary threshold for a neighborhood that they'd go through to wire up other neighborhoods anyways, Google would be pretty stupid to deny people the chance to give...

Stuff I gleamed off Reddit: http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/envelope/cotown/la-et-ct-googletv-20120726,0,5185454.story - ESPN and HBO will be coming soon. They accurately identified Kansas City as being in Missouri, but some how left out Kansas. Seems backwards from the norm. The registration f...

Does it only allow one sign-up per street address? It seems weird that it's blocking all of these when there's a field for apartment number on the sign-up.

Maybe this law would have saved some lives. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Assault_Weapons_Ban I can support concealed carry, but I just don't get how people can use the 2nd amendment to defend assault weapons. The founding fathers had no way to know that guns would become so overpowered. Pro...

There's also a boarded up garage on the southeast corner of 14th and Wyandotte. I was trying to figure out why there was a two spot parking lot and realized they had cinderblocked the entrance.

Re: KC Bike share

Reading some of the comments elsewhere, it seems like people think they have to bring it back within 30 minutes. I guess there's some learning curve there too, or complaining about that is cheaper than spending $2.
