Like the article in The Star mentions today - if you start to chip away at something that is unique to Kansas City, you eventually wake up and find it's overall character has changed.
What's wrong with people standing up and saying we think this is wrong (for whatever purpose)?

Re: Are KC & the Midwest still a backwoods for gays?
I think the leader of GLAAD is like too many other people (gay AND straight) who think the civilized world begins and end with NY or anywhere seen as trendy. Probably would never venture far from WeHo in LA and finds any reason to put down places like KC because there is no scene here comparable to...

Re: Polsinelli Shuhart HQ @ 47th/Broadway
Polsinelli spokesman said that many people who are against the proposed building just don't want ANY office buildings on the Plaza. He actually used Valencia and Plaza Steppes as examples of office buildings simliar to what they want to build. He also said that the glass look will be utilized sinc...

Re: Polsinelli Shuhart HQ @ 47th/Broadway
I was all ready to be excited about this, but the tear-downs seem completely unnecessary and awful. I feel the same. Does Highwoods own the empty half block north of Gap? Although that would mean the Polsinelli employees would have to walk half a block up/down a hill to get to Plaza amenities. H...

I bet it will go on the SE corner where Sharper Image was - there's room behind for a larger garage to be built.

Oh, and do you mind posting a picture? I'd love to see your fixtures. I've got fantastic fixtures pics posted all over the internets, but I'll see if I can find some of my sconces and shade  Thanks for all of the website advice - I get the Rejuvenation catalog and love some of their stuff. ...

Re: My New House, Restoration and such
I know a crap ton of resources for shades and these old lights. I am at the dentist but when I'm home later or tomorrow I'll post some links and respond more. I know where you can find some PDF files of original catalogS so you can find the name of your fixture. That will help your search. Much ap...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
Why does a department store have to be national? We have an excellent local one. Their lease may not allow highwoods to chase Dillards or Macys (if they had the room). I heard Halls is the last remaining independent in the US. The Californian who told me this was awed by it...Macys has swallowed up...

Re: My New House, Restoration and such
That slip shade looks almost identical to one in the entryway of the house I bought in November. There are two additional sconces on the landing, one of which has no shade. I've been trying everywhere to find a mate for the remaining slip shade on the sconce, but I've run out of places to look. I...

Re: Whitlock hits the nail on the head about KC sports...
I agree that he had the ability to make people talk about sports, but I want to read (or listen to) a sports columnist that focuses more on sports, less on the columnist. The Star and Whitlock both went further down in my ratings when Whitlock began writing non-sports columns that were featured on ...

It also depends on who shows up to vote and how much those people have educated themselves on Funk. If the majority of the people showing up to vote are citizens who get their news/information from pro-Funkers, then we're all doomed!

Re: Kansas City Officially Has A New Mayor - Mark Funkhouser
The thing is if the project would have gone bye-bye after the first bid you guys would have been all over him for losing another one. Because it would have been his responsibility to save it. I think the best someone could say about Funk's involvement in this case is that his hands-off philosophy ...

LOL. I watched this on Netflix streaming the other week and thought it was fantastic. The sequel is playing at the Tivoli now - has anyone seen it?mudjack wrote: This is on Netflix's watch now list.
I wanted to like it, but I'm shallow. I couldn't get over her using a Mac and turned it off.
