Re: Need Help

Depending on how much drywall is involved, it would be better to have an electrician check it out.  They can find out a lot without actually seeing the wiring.

That would be a big bummer for MU.  I hope it's not true.

Re: Need Help

If you're framed with power and plumbing the hard parts done.  Everything else is cosemetic.  I should note that basement living spaces are supposed to have 2 areas of egress, so you don't get trapped down there in an emergency.

Re: deficit hysteria, MMT, and KC

I agree with you about the hysteria part.  I think there is a bit of opportunism happening where political scores are being settled under the auspices of "deficit reduction".  That being said, there are serious side effects to debt, deficits and budgets.  Inflation, bonds and stock prices ...

Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District

Basically the article compares how a comparable tax subsidy amount ($300M) made a financial obligation to the governing body.  Not sure of the individual breakdowns but the article states that tax funds for both projects were used for streets and utilities so it seems to be comparing apples-to-appl...

Re: Grinders

OK, the guy was setting downtown streets on fire back in the early '90's. He has expended his considerable energy in making the Crossroads a significant place, and had he not been present, things would appear much different than they now do.  Something much less, I am certain. Yeah, he's bigger tha...

Re: 2011 Big 12 Tournament

There are probably 3 other threads I could put this in: KMBC had back to back reports First was about preventing crime downtown during the tourney, cops/cameras/electronics in cars/etc. with the killer closing quote about KCPD's first priority preventing "violent crimes".  I might have let...

Re: 2010 Census - KC metro at 2.1m population

I'm thinking most of the migration is op to farther south op, but that results in a change of school district, sm to bv.  I'd also guess that a portion of the 435 north rehabs are being occupied by the aforementioned hispanic influx that are likely to have large families.

Re: 2010 Census - KC metro at 2.1m population

I would guess all 4 have lots of undeveloped land, I just think OP's is both less accessible and also not affordable in its direction of growth.  Not sure why OP would be losing anywhere, the northern areas or north of 435 for that matter, are transitioning to affordable rehab type homes.  I think t...
