Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

Regarding the building at 5th and Grand: I met a guy at the dog park who said he was in talks w/ the owners about converting a part of it into a doggie day care and groomer. If done correctly, this business would just print money in the River Market.

I've eaten at Sushi by Me. While it wasn't "THE BEST SUSHI EVER", it was pretty tasty and quick. What's more, the staff is very friendly. I approve.

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

The Wine, Cheese and Chocolate guy has told me that soon they will be offering Glace ice cream. Not just in pints, but a full on little ice cream shop for cups and cones. Hopefully it's true, as that will draw a TON of traffic to the spot!

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

I go to Opera House quite often. It certainly doesn't blow me away, but they're friendly, and it's definitely a better place to work or have a meeting than City Market Coffeehouse. It is slowly getting better and better with each visit, but I wish they'd pick up the pace in getting everything that t...

Re: Closed Bars and Restaurants

I've never considered K City to be too large. It doesn't have that much space. It's just that they've done nothing good with it at all. It needs to have like double the area of couch seating, dividing the room into smaller areas. Plus it wouldn't hurt for it to be a bit darker and more cozy. I hones...

Re: Closed Bars and Restaurants

K City Coffee in the River Market has folded. Their Facebook page says they sold to somebody else. Hopefully it's somebody that knows how to run a business.

I cringed when i heard "cold storage" but then breathed a sigh of relief when i heard "market rate".

No more Cold Storages for KC. Ever.

Re: New to Kansas City, What should i do?

Thanks Loftguy, I've certainly been enjoying the position so far! I would say River Market and Crossroads would be the two best sub-sections of "downtown" to move. Both are amazing. Crossroads has a more vibrant nightlife, but River Market has oodles more green space and the farmers market...

Oh and yeah trivia. Might I suggest Tuesday nights @ Flying Saucer (13th and Walnut). I think it's the best, though I might be biased, as I'm the host.

Re: New to Kansas City, What should i do?

I guess this is as good of time as any to come out of hiding (for those that didn't already know). Might I recommend Yelp as a good resource when moving to a new city? If you're unfamiliar, it's a website/phone app that allows people to rate and review virtually any type of business. It's great for ...

sometimes I think some of the posters on KCRag are actually involved in a very lengthy piece of performance art, commenting on the stupidity within society that rises up thanks to online anonymity.
