the more signals, the slower traffic goes. that's not a bad thing.

regardless, was calculating progress yesterday. track installation started in early august. they've already completed quite a few stretches: main street viaduct, 5th street, grand avenue, delaware bridge, and main between truman and 17th. main street bridge over 670 was completed a year ago and the...

Re: New Airport (Rumor)

Lol, I'm pretty young to be a crotchety old asshole. But for real, why isn't there anything around the airport? Nothing wants to be near 435 in Platte County. no sewers or water. Yes, it's that simple. The rest is much quicker to put in. Just for second creek support they ran a pipe all the way fro...

Re: New Airport (Rumor)

And as growth aspect, there's a TON of space near the airport. There were ideas to move the terminal to the other side of the airport and the area is so under developed we would need to build the road network to it at great expense

Re: American Royal leaders propose tearing down Kemper

those who advocated for saving the structure are also advocating to convert the building to private ownership. no one thinks the city should be operating two arenas, including the preservationists. We have four arenas downtown. Sprint Municipal Hale Kemper Municipal auditorium contains an arena amo...

it's better than doing nothing but why does it take so long to change paint? we're looking ~12 months out for implementation. the order should be city council has pre-approved stanards for paint only road diets just like they have a pre-approved distance from parking spots to a fire hydrant so you d...

Re: Metcakf Ave.

I fail to see why we need another street to maintain right there. Metcalf is the widest street through OP N-S from I-35 to 435. It has what's in the top 5 if it's not the #1 longest contiguous parallel bike trail in the metro area and it has a transit route on it. yet another street would be a faili...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

I found it odd that KCI was the only small city airport in the group. Most of the others were the big hubs. KCI has a high PAX/Air Traffic to Actual population number. I think our PAX rating was 25th best in the country, yet our population is like 37th or so? I quoted and cited the actual numbers s...

Re: Kansas, Missouri battle over companies

Of course it depends on the business. Some businesses tend to stay in cities where their economic fortunes are based. It would be harder to lure an oil company from Houston, Dallas, Tulsa, or Denver since those cities have a large presence of energy-related companies. Big media companies aren't goi...

Re: American Royal leaders propose tearing down Kemper

Foutch offered to buy Kemper Arena for a youth sports facility Which appeared to be OK with many, even though it did not follow city procedures for disposal of property. But there was objection, by those many, to turning the facility over to the AR because it didn't follow normal city procedures. I...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

Look at the scale 66 acres is 0.3 x 0.3 mile or approx 5x5 city blocks downtown It's a tiny area compared to that 50 square miles Turkey creek is basically updating a storm sewer. That's a great project but it means nothing for required sewer repairs in neighborhoods. The streetcar project is the pe...

Re: American Royal leaders propose tearing down Kemper

so basically the Royal wants the city to not do it's due dilligence and make sure they're following the law and instead ram this through. Obviously if the city cancels the December hearing this project is stalled and the status quo remains. I don't get a feeling that the city wants ultamatums to giv...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

I had no idea Affare had a parking lot. Tiny lot to the south of the building. I hope it is theirs - I parked there last time I was there. They don't, they share four different lots depending on the time of day. And that's not one of them. Ironically one is shared with the streetcar constructors. W...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

Even without the EPA mandates, many downtown water lines are over 100 years old and are failing, and would need to be replaced anyway at some point. the EPA mandate isn't what you think it is. it's all about not sending untreated sewage into streams and rivers. it's long but the plan is post on the...

And, where will Harry's customers park?
they'll use the huge garages in the CBD and hop on the streetcar. that's kind of the point of it.

or there's 3x city lots and 1x KCATA lot nearby.

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

one thing this project is doing well is showing how single use, private, parking is a liability for a business when your one entrance gets blocked. all downtown businesses need to have contingencies planned. that some places didn't prepare doesn't reflect well on their planning. because it doesn't t...

can't picture the spot.
looks like attic space/storage space. if that angle is south-facing with solar panels

fits perfect into the crossroads.

remember, there's a white and blue building along Broadway. variety of styles IS what the crossroads is.
