Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity
A study in contrasts: The world's slowest restaurant conversion is still sputtering along at 12th & Walnut - a fire alarm permit was applied for and granted on the 5th . Meanwhile...Scooters vacated 929 Walnut less than a month ago, and Spokes already has exterior signage applied to the windows ...

Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity
The sign went up in mid-September.
Next month will be the 3-year mark on this project. If I was a bit more artfully inclined, I'd stage a performance of Waiting for Godot on the corner.

Re: Westport
This prediction seems a lot more likely, given that a future location of the Johnny Kaw's empire is Char Bar's address . My long shot guess is that Char Bar will either temporarily or permanently move to McCoy's/Sailor Jack's space, using the currently parking lot as a lawn. This would let Char Bar ...

Re: Westport
Of course not - I had assumed that my word choice for nearly every word after "gentrified" in that comment would have given away that I don't actually believe it is, but here we are.

Now I'm curious how many *other* parking lots have an assessed market value of <= $100.

Alien guys. I'm looking forward to politely explaining that my body thetans and I are in a comfortable place and I don't need their help in removing them. (Hail Xenu!)

Re: beer.
Something called Friction Beer just posted on Twitter that they signed a lease with Butch Rigby and will be in a "very popular part of town". They also thanked the Xroads Retail Group. So... maybe Tapcade? Not sure at all. Friction posted on FB today that they’re going in at the corner of...

“Darlene” is nothing more than a figment of someone’s imagination, for the record. Whoever thinks this trolling is cute will give up if people ignore the posts.

Re: Westport
I can't think of a better way for our newly-gentrified Kansas City Plasma & Crab District to market itself than Crazy Crab and Krab Kings leaving a bunch of discount/BOGO coupons at the KC CARES clinic. Crabs for crabs, everyone!

Re: Westport
Using this as the "close enough" thread, but for anyone who cares, Chubby's is closing Thursday morning.
The article doesn't have any information on what (if anything) is going into that space, but the Pitch managed to work in a throwaway "gentrification" comment anyway.

FWIW, asking for tips in counter-service places correlates very strongly with the adoption of tablet- or touchscreen kiosk-based devices with software that (presumably by default) includes a tip prompt.

It was 3x/week this season. I just checked Icelandair’s Web site; their summer 2019 flight schedule still shows as 3x/week there.

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments
Is SEA going away forever? i thought that was just a seasonal flight I had flown Southwest to Seattle in late February 2017, so I think it had been year-round for at least the past couple years. Given that Alaska always had and Delta began directs on that route this year, Southwest reducing and/or ...

2. Icelandair loads have been roughly 72% to/from KC so far. Just over a month left in the season but loads have slipped since school started back up. So thats roughly 800 of the 7-10 thousand weekly KC-Euorpe travelers are picking Icelandair. (Roughly 500-700 daily OD during the summer). Pretty go...

Re: Politics
The baseline level of public interest in young white women going missing is orders of magnitude higher than it is for anyone else, so there's that. I'm curious how your both-sidesing comment holds in this instance - there's not all that much to say about mass murders/our embarrassingly high homicide...
