Oh man... "It seems like it's a never-ending battle and what we are trying to do is create job opportunities here in Kansas City," he said. This just pisses me off. "Gee, guys, we're just trying to create jobs." Uh huh. You're not trying to exploit a cheap labor market to sling ...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
Here's to hoping these rails will be date stamped as well. What happens to the rail they dug up that had the stamp? It would be awesome to either cut the dated section out and mount it on an angled placque that is by one of the stops, with a brief history of the KC Streetcars. Or is the entire rail ...

Re: Take KCATA's WiFi Interest Survey
I agree. I almost solely use my phone on a bus, and with unlimited data I don't worry about WiFi a whole lot. If I used a tablet then I'd be more concerned with data on a bus but I don't think it would change/affect my habits of riding a bus.

I think you are referring to the plan promoted by the Westside Housing Organization drawn up by BNIM to build new housing on that parcel in conjunction with renovated the West Side and Switzer school buildings. Saw some guys standing outside the new Kansas City Bier Co. in Waldo yesterday and stopped by to say hello. They were a little mum, didn't seem too excited to visit, but they did say they hope to start brewing in about 10 days.

I've been three times now. Like Feruzza said, when the food is good, it's really good! The first time it was great, I had a really good burger and the fries had garlic and parmesean on them. The second time I got a ham sandwich and the fries were plain salted fries, not nearly as tasty as the first ...

Re: Google picks KCK/KCMO for ultra fast fiber network
Not to turn this into a tech help blog, but I can get connected for about a minute, then it loses VPN and has to reconnect, then again, and again. It happens regardless of WiFi or plug in. As for the network equipment, I don't have any big problems. The installer did say the box projects in an arc o...

Re: Google picks KCK/KCMO for ultra fast fiber network
For the record, when I use my work laptop at home, I as well as some of my peers have trouble staying connected to VPN on Fiber. We pull 120-170 Mbps on WiFi and about 800 Mbps hard wired on our home computers but for some reason, we just can't stay connected to VPN - it's always trying to reconnec...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
you know, parking don't have to be above ground. we keep thinking about losing parking and trying to think in 2D. there's a MAJOR parking garage near the loop in Chicago that's below ground around Jackson and Michigan. the big impact to this idea is utility placement and if it allows major digging ...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
I'm not sure how much space a stop would take up if it had to stop right in the parking lot that is in the ROW. But, one small idea is to make Brookside Plaza a one way and angle parking which would give you more than the parallel that is there now. https://maps.google.com/maps?q=The+Roasterie+Cafe&...

The blue building is full of old people, and nobody likes pitching granny out on the street. So it's not going anywhere, at least until everybody dies off. ... The right-of-way could be vastly better utilized, streetcar or no. It really should have more buildings in it, particularly near the Brooks...

It's actually mostly residents. Independently living senior housing type thing. The lady that I bought my house from moved into it.KCMax wrote:PumpkinStalker wrote:
What's in that blue building? Isn't it just dentists and medical professionals? I'd love to see that go as well.
