Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
I agree Houston's that was more than a chain. It was one of the premier Plaza restaurants for decades and a Plaza staple. You could go on most weekends when a sports event was in town and see network sports announcers, players and other famous people. My experience is that Houston's started going do...

Better news and higher hopes for this - possibly 300,000 sq ft of office in 2 towers. There's now a "270 day" window just to find office tenants from outside the KC area. http://www.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/article126515304.html The goal is to build two new office towers alo...

Re: And here we go again... Midwest Hotel to be demolished
Great project size and mass but I hate all of the colors in the rendering. Outside the box is fine, and the Crossroads could use some splash but all that lime and green in the rendering is wack. It looks garish from the 20th St side. KC has a style that's edgy but doesn't try hard to be "edgy&q...

Re: Historic Old Northeast
If the city would get that 7-11 (Woodland) and BP gas station (Maple) out of there that area would improve 100% more.
The drugs and crime around those 2 places are why KCUMB doesn't want their students parking and walking from that far south.
It's simply a freak show behind there.

Those city shots of Crown Center and the Plaza are nice but what is with the boring suburban mall photos?

I'd rather play the Steelers than New England.
The Chiefs would get them at home and seek revenge.
We've made Roethlisberger look terrible before, we can do it again.

Re: 1985 Best and Worst of KC
"Town Squire?" Must have been some suburban trash rag. I was becoming an adult then and don't remember any of the places they mentioned. I-35 and 119th was a wheat field (literally) then. This would have been the real "Bests" to Kansas Citians. - Best hamburger : Always was Westp...

Re: New Convention Hotel
One cannot protect views of buildings unless the building(s) that is/are to be protected is/are willing to buy the air rights around it/them to protect the views, or compensate other property owners for the inability to develop their sites in the way they want. [/size] No need to be condescending, ...

Re: New Convention Hotel
The money shot of our once great skyline from the south is eventually going to be a boring glass wall of 23 storey, box buildings.

Re: St. Louis/CWE studio gang skyscraper proposal
Nice tower and development. Not sold on the overall design. That will take awhile to get used to. Just looking at the very top - it has a very cool art-deco appeal. Going all the way up the sides it is fugly though. I would love to see something this size go up at 31st & Main which has a central...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
This thread has a lot of info and projects hodge-poged together - hard to follow.
Shouldn't the Plaza have it's own Forum?
Or at least "Westport/Plaza" with each project having it's own thread.
Just an idea.

Re: And here we go again... Midwest Hotel to be demolished
I believe the small building just to the East of Gown Gallery is part of that property, is it not? I hope it is and will not be demolished. It's possible, perhaps I'm misunderstanding the article. I checked street view and that building is part of Gown Gallery. I was going by this: City Club Apartm...

Re: And here we go again... Midwest Hotel to be demolished
The only buildings saved on the entire block are the northwest corner, the building next to it housing "Affaire" and the Midwest Hotel. Everything else on the block will be demolished. So at the minimum 40-50% of the Main St side will have retail with the possibility of more with the new c...
