Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
Interesting find on Bing... I think this is the big reason the owner of the air filter company is so against the streetcar proposal. She won't be able to use Grand street as her personal loading dock anymore. She alluded to this in the radio broadcast but my impression was that her delivery / shipme...

Re: Misc Crossroads News
Has anyone mentioned the rehab of the building on the NW corner of 19th st & wyandotte (1818 wyandotte)? It is undergoing a complete gutting and renovation. Architects seem to be Clockwork Architecture & Design according to previous signage on the building and the titleblock on the renderi...

Re: Private Car Share
i think it would be more appealing if the vehicle(s) was a pick-up truck. That would be very handy for small moves...things like running out to check out and possibly take home that sofa you spottted on craigslist. You might get non-truck car owners to sign up with that service

Here's an idea:
prop it up with supports and send the bill to the 'developer', rather than tear it down

Re: 900 Baltimore Ave.
okay, faulty memory...it's surrounded by chain-link fence rather than jersey barriers. Pretty quiet though some work is being done inside. There was a ventilation fan and I saw one worker with a hard hat enter the building. If it's interior demo for a renovation that is wonderful. The language o...

Re: 900 Baltimore Ave.
You should cruise by again. Based on the development permit from November 25, 2009, there was a permit issued to "Construct new masonry wall and demo 1 story wing per plans reviewed for code compliance." http://kivaweb.kcmo.org/kivanet/2/permit/summary/index.cfm?pid=1387688&jur=KCMO ...

Re: 900 Baltimore Ave.
a renovation would be great. it's a wonderful building that should be preserved. i live a block away and will be out running some errands in the neighborhood later. i'll walk down that way and see if any changes have occurred.

well, i jogged by there on Monday and saw the building completely surrounded by jersey barriers, plus a couple large-ish 'dangerous building' notices posted in the storefront.

Re: 47th & Roanoke residential bldg.
I'm saying they're stripping off the brick veneer from (possibly) the entire building. I'm guessing either to address some water penetration issues and re-clad the building in something new, or to recycle the brick as they salvage what the can from a demolition site.

A reinforced concrete frame w/ some dirty CMU or terra-cotta masonry infill blocks is now visible. Basically it's all grey.

47th & Roanoke residential bldg.
I just looked out the window and noticed that it appears they are removing all of the exterior brick from the 7-story 1960s-ish (?) apartment building that was vacated, marketed as future condos and boarded up a year or two ago. From my vantage point all of the brick on the north facing elevation i...
