Re: American Royal leaders propose tearing down Kemper

Was the move in venue and dates worth it? Seems like it was low key again. Are you talking about the BBQ? I think the move to Labor Day weekend was a big mistake. It seemed the crowd Friday night was about half what it was last year. Either people were out of town, or there was too much else going ...

Re: P&L District: 13th & Walnut Site Proposal

So does the county line name come from the original Okey Joes being on the Wyandotte county line in Kansas? Kind of a weird naming plan that guy has. Yes, according to the BizJournal article . The name "County Line" is a nod to Joe's Kansas City's roots in Kansas City, Kan., where its fir...

Re: OFFICIAL - Corrigan Building

The food is pretty good. There is an Asian influence to most of the dishes. Prices for the small plates are around $8-$25. There are two bigger plates - a black cod for $40 and a Wagyu ribeye for $65, IIRC. Corvino does have a bar menu. I think it is available after 10pm. My wife says the hamburger ...

We were also at Hotel Phillips on Saturday night, although not for the new restaurant. In addition to Tavernonna, there is a new "speakeasy" space in the former basement called PS 1931. They did a great job decorating the spot, although it was very warm down there on Saturday night. It is ...

At one time, there was a Bruce Smith drug store on the Plaza.

I believe it was on the corner that recently housed Armani Exchange.

Re: Do you have or plan to get Google Fiber?

Just got our Google fiber installed in Prairie Village. Got internet and phone to replace TWC. Didn't do Google TV since the TV boxes are $10 each after the first one. With 6 TVs, that is a significant hit over the couple of bucks a month I pay TWC for each cable card or digital converter. Google fi...

I can't recall exactly what I was told, but I don't believe the plans were for a parking lot. Green space was mentioned, and I think also something about some opportunity for small retail.

I think the building he owns is the former Cadillac Catering event space. KCDowntown Ate dinner at novel last week and got an update on the plans. Apparently the Cadillac building (the roof in particular) is too far gone and will be demolished. The restaurant will go into the first floor of the sma...
