New Mixed Use 30 story tower?

Proposed 30 story tower next to the power and light building. Has anyone heard of this? There's also an article on the kc star, but I don't have a subscription to read it.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

If they're moving it downtown. At least face the stadium so the outfield looks at the city. The renderings have one lone office building back there. I sure HOPE they don't face it east away from everything. That's one reason people love watching games in St. Louis / Pitt.

Re: Jackson County Regional Rail Plan

I don't understand? Their goal is to bring people to work. How many people work at arrowhead???

ALso, I don't see a map? Where in Lee's Summit will this start? Will it go down 470 to 70 and west to the stadiums?

Re: New Convention Hotel

^I don't believe so. In the original renderings, the building appeared to be massive -- taller than the Power & Light building -- but I read a little while back that the new convention center hotel would be 360 feet tall, making it significantly shorter than the P&L building. http://www.ksh...

Re: New Convention Hotel

So back to the important issue- how tall is this thing. I didn't see the full council discussing this, but did watch part of the committee hearing. In it Burke said the rendering they keep using is from when the building was planned at 1000 rooms. He indicated the Northern tower that faced Truman w...

Re: Proposed apartment for 13th and Walnut - One Light

i don't think those webcams were intended just for this project, i may be wrong. I agree though, they are nice for people who are unable to see the construction in person. They are also positioned well for the convention hotel construction once that begins They were put up a year before the convent...

Any news on this going forward? Didn't they hope to get everything approved by August?

Re: Proposed apartment for 14th and Grand - Two Light

The preliminary website is up for two light. http://twolightkc.com Interesting thing is the threelightkc and fourlightkc urls have also been secured. Cordish must be planning to move quickly on these developments. You clearly haven't worked somewhere that buys every domain name and its variants so ...

Re: Proposed apartment for 13th and Walnut - One Light

Hopefully that parking lot will have this soon if local companies actually start stepping up and moving back downtown. http://metrowiremedia.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Copaken-twistedHQ.png Odds of local companies moving back down there are very slim. Especially since cerner and Sprint built ca...

Re: New Convention Hotel

Obviously you are not familiar with the site. The hill cannot be "flattened out" as Wyandotte St is on it(along with the KCPA and the Bartle ballroom). The western half of the block is level with Wyandotte. The eastern half is already the lower level of Baltimore. So then, they will use t...

Re: New Convention Hotel

This hotel (even if it technically only has 25 floors) will look like a 45 story building from most angles and will dramatically alter the skyline. So I do hope at least the south blank wall doesn't look terrible. I'm sure there are things that can be done to improve south wall. Depends where they ...

Re: New Convention Hotel

Guys, have we figured out how many floors this thing is gonna be? LOL.... well someone one here spoke to the architect involved. He said right now it's planned for the height of a 30-35 story building, but with final tweaks it could be as tall as 40. If they build it on the hill of the lot it is on...

Half the rooms at one light is studios. That's the same size, if not smaller than a standard hotel room

Re: New Convention Hotel

honestly, do these things ever meet or exceed initial expectations? i'm going to bet money on no more than 25 stories. Well their saying 30-35 could possibly go up to 40... That's better than them saying it could drop to 25-20 . I'll keep my hopes up that in 3 years we will have a huge hotel with 3...

Re: New Convention Hotel

Yeah, too early as design is not finalized. I do find it curious that many seem to think a convention hotel will be a major catalyst for downtown like increasing downtown population is. There is no guarantee this will bring more conventions - Denver/Indy initially got a boost from their convention ...
