Re: Misc Crossroads News

Something called the Tank Room going in next to Green Lady. Their Facebook page is a little slim on details, but it looks like they've had events there. Anybody know anything?

Re: 2013 CHIEFS!

! The Chiefs sign Kyle Williams off waivers. Williams is the one who mufed the fumble in 2011 costing the Niners a Super Bowl berth! NOW DO YOU BELIEVE????? Well, just so long as other teams don't target his head. What happened in that 2011 game was a crime. And by "crime," I mean it lite...

$25 a month is still much, much less than I was paying for DSL

Re: Google picks KCK/KCMO for ultra fast fiber network

I'll do it when I get home. Upload wasn't great, but I don't really need it to be. When I say the numbers were nearly identical, I mean that. It looks like they've choked the free service to match DSL.

Re: Google picks KCK/KCMO for ultra fast fiber network

I got the free service and found that it was giving me upload and download speeds that were pretty much identical to my DSL service. I live by myself, so not competing with a bunch of other users, but I've found that I'm able to stream Hulu or Netflix and still do a little light internet surfing, wi...

Not sure I'm following. Are you saying two properties to be demolished?
No, that we're talking about two different properties (1804 WY and 1801 Main)

Well, losing that little gray squat building is no tragedy. I wonder what's going there instead.

Re: Westside happenings

If you want to live in town, live in town. I know plenty of people with kids living in the KCMO and KCK core, making it work with some combo of private, charter, or carefully chosen public schools. Or, if that's a bridge too far, there are always inner ring suburbs. No shortage of old man bars in Mi...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

Raygun, an awesome fixture in Des Moines and Iowa City, is moving into the Crossroads. I get a ton of comments on my "Kansas City: Too Much City for One State" shirt that I got there. http://www.pitch.com/FastPitch/archives/2013/10/14/raygun-des-moines-t-shirt-shop-is-expanding-to-kansas-...

Re: 2013 CHIEFS!

FWIW, the Broncos have outscored their opponents by only 20 more points than we have, facing about as easy of a schedule. Yeah, I have a hard time seeing the difference. Broncos score a kajillion points, but they give up a lot of points. Fer gawd's sake, they let Jacksonville score 20 points. The C...

Re: Hamburger Mary's

Are gay people uncomfortable in a 'regular' restaurant that they need one geared towards their lifestyle? You're kidding, right? You really think you live in a world where same-sex couples don't ever get dirty looks from fellow patrons and hostile treatment from waitstaff? Don't you think it would ...

Re: 2013 CHIEFS!

I loved Bowe's quote today. When asked what he thought about everyone calling them the worst 9-0 team.

“I hadn’t heard that. But I heard we’re the only 9-0 team.”

Re: Urbanism, architecture, transit, etc.

Hmm. Riding up the hill from downtown to midtown eventually stopped my efforts at bike commuting, and I got a scooter.
