Downtown needs some basics now
What is a World Market? I've seen the building in Westport but because of thee way it looks I thought it was some sort of office building dealing with international trade.

More debate on Downtown's boundaries
What are the boundaries of the Harlem neighborhood and/or exactly how do you get there? I'd like to check it out as I haven't actually been there. I've passed under 169 from the airport and frolicked, but there wasn't much of a neighborhood there. I have a lot of exploring left to do. What you like...

I could see classifying the Downtown Airport and the Harlem area as part of downtown, those are both north of the river yet I consider myself to be downtown when I am at either. But Vivion? Give me a break. He shoots, he scores! http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/news/local/7665425.htm Posted...

The BVAC one threw me off at first since it was compared as being nicer than ODAC... to me BVAC has always been that little RLDS gym complex in eastern Independence. :) I think the letters even stand for the same words as what Stl_Dan was talking about too... but different states, scales, and purpos...

You didn't get it. I'm a non-biased pro-religeon guy, but I can assure you that NO ED AGENCY is actively recruiting projects like this. It's not that they aren't wanted or appreciated, but the ground on Renner has been developed to attract corporate HQ's willing to spend in excess of $10 million to...

Extrapolaing that out statewide, I figure if there were only some way to capture that money and funnel it to MODOT, they'd have an extra 1.2 to 1.5 billion dollars per year with which to rebuild I-70 and fix/upgrade all the other highways.

Their existing campus on the Paseo is really a beautiful sight (and site), with excellent highway and boulevard access... it should be able to find another use quickly. (From what I understand though they are just moving the administrative offices and everything else on the existing campus would sti...

Holy crap! I had heard of Electric Park before but had no idea it was so cool!
If the name is resurrected for this project, I hope the bring back that fountain of women.

I think we should start shitting on Montana! Who's with me? Montana is nothing but a bunch of sprawl. All the businesses should be in downtown Helena. Helena needs a couple of 600-foot skyscrapers for everyone in the state to live in. Or maybe Billings. Helena will never be as good as Billings. ;)

I don't want to be a lone negative voice, and granted this was ten years ago, but I want to share my experience of living near Troost. I lived in the 4400 block of Harrison... Troost was literally my back yard. The neighborhood was very nice -- big beautiful homes that their owners had all put a lot...

The sprawl on the Missouri side is worse. At least Johnson County develops inch by inch rather than skipping and hopping, leaving undevloped land deeper into the city. Cedar Creek in Olathe was built miles out from the nearest developed land. New subdivisions are planned on 175th Street even though...

And don't forget how long Bruce R. Watkins Drive took... and that was just a few miles all contained within a single municipality.

I agree and disagree with both of you. Devin, enough with the hatred and insults. It's not very Christian of you and it is yet another display of yet another sample of the vile intolerance I have seen so often among enough people of religion to drive me 100% away from religion. People have the right...

as well as northeastern Independence if the Lewis and Clark Expressway is ever built. Good call. I didn't even think about that project. That could definitely have an effect on growth between US-24 and the river. Grain Valley is definitely the next wave of sprawl, although the underpass through I-7...

Blue Springs nearly doubles in size?
Feeling even geekier than usual, I threw together a map of what Eastern Jackson County might look like in 2029, 25 years from now. This is based on current growth patterns, planned annexation areas, boundary agreements between cities, and the lay of the land in general. I also have one way-out-on-a-...

Blue Springs nearly doubles in size?
It'd be nice if they made a fine town from the ample land that they have. Instead, they seem to wish to follow the tried-and-false annex-flee strategy. You mean Blue Springs? Before the recent annexation they not only did not have ample land, they had no land. Blue Springs, almost to a fault, has b...

Another article about all the annexations going on in EJC. http://www.examiner.net/stories/122903/new_122903008.shtml Earlier this fall, Blue Springs announced plans to add 9,557 acres to the city. I don't know if the map posted by GRID above is a map of these 9,557 acres or if this is on top of wha...
