Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

It’s not doomerism, the Royals didn’t want this to pass. They wanted an excuse to move. Kansas will throw every dollar from Garden City to Mission Hills at the Chiefs. This was generationally stupid. The Royals want to be downtown badly. They didn't try and fuck this up on purpose. Downtown Nashvil...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Less than 10% margin is enough that it can be moved. A lot of the KCMO, but especially the Urban KCMO votes could be swayed with some refinement, and an actual semi competent campaign. I’m disappointed with the outcome, but nothing that can’t be overcome. Let’s all keep motivated and optimistic, ev...

Well, the Royals are gone for sure, just like they wanted. 50 years was a good run, I guess, for a small town.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

And some people would rather live in Joplin than KC. What is your point? My point is that I'm an enormous baseball fan, and a huge Royals fan, but beyond the economic impact (which is increasingly questionable given the enormous outlay of public money), I'm not so foolish as to fail to understand t...

Also I’ve been wondering for months now why they don’t just vote with KCMO only.
Because the Northland voters would tank it unless it gets built up north.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

I hope they can get a stadium done in KC, but right now, I think there is about a 50% chance the Royals are not in KC in 2035. In another ten years, places like Nashville and Charlotte will be too much larger and will build a downtown stadium for the Royals in a heartbeat. And KC will be Buffalo wh...

Barf. I remember when this board was littered with Jane Jacobs dick-riding and I do not miss it.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Downtown KCK would be fine with me. Probably rank it higher than NKC, lower than the site where it belongs (18th/Vine) or the "east village" site, but it wouldn't bother me at all. Legends or south JoCo would be a historic and very Kansas City miss.

You don't know Mike Parson very well.

Re: Bike Lanes

Allowing sidewalks to deteriorate into un-usability, campaigning for 30 years to keep bikes off of sidewalks, then making separated bike lanes (which is basically what a sidewalk is), and then having to "rebrand" those bike lanes as glorified sidewalks is why people doubt the effectiveness...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Other than getting a new stadium, NKC seems like the worst of both worlds, not downtown, we lose a stadium I love, and the same ancillary development could be done at TSC. The upside would be I wouldn't have to chip in. I do not believe there will ever, under any circumstances, in any possible futu...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Have people here thought about what they would do if they do announce NKC as the site? I know I'm not sure what I would do, other than just go along with it since there is not much else to do. I would be excited with either option. As long as the ballpark moves into the city, I'm pretty neutral. Th...

Like said, going to a Royals game is odd because there like like nobody there in their 20s and 30s like I see in other stadiums. I love this newest narrative arc of your KC-Eeyore dystopian fantasy, in which baseball fans EveRywHere bUt Kc!!!!! are 20 and 30 somethings. Your capacity for sustained ...
