18th and baltimore

Yeah that building is hideous. It's red with scraped steel and starts at the North end I believe at 2 stories and the South end is 3 stories. I can't imagine it being turned into condos because it looks like it is made of metal or something. IMO, it should be torn down. Just bad 1950-60's design.

Probably not good news....oh well drop an arena in there along with a new office tower and some shops, restaurants, etc and move on.

No birds in Kansas City?

It's a known fact that all of Mizzou athletics are marginal at best. K-State football has been ranked in the top ten on many occurances in the last decade. The same can be said of the KU basketball teams...hell they've made it to the Final Four the last 2 years. Mizzou has gone nowhere fast. They AR...

I'd move to Mpls if their winters weren't so freaking cold and long. It's a great city and very clean. Downtown Kansas City could take some lessons on landscaping and urban development from up there.

I'll stay out of this discussion until the basketball season starts. Our football season started out like normal...another loss....different year.

Just tear the sucker down. What once would have made the place unique and special is gone. It's now just a rotting building standing in the way of development.

Downtown Baseball stadium talk firing up

Right, I'm with Grid, we don't have to abandon the Truman Sports Complex by building a new baseball stadium downtown. Arrowhead is/will be an icon in the likes of Soldier Field or Lambeau Field. It's fine where it is but needs some renovations. Put some money into Arrowhead, get it up to par with th...

Downtown Baseball stadium talk firing up

I don't see the rationale of pumping alot of money into an area that has not seen any development in 30 years when that money can be infused into a downtown project and help revitalize a downtown that's lacking entertainment. Rip out the seats of Kauffman, plus the Scoreboard and fountains and all y...

Downtown Baseball stadium talk firing up

Any baseball stadium built in the last 10 years (excluding US Cellular) beats out Kauffman. I have recently visited Houstons new stadium and Coors Field in the past and both are AWESOME. Kauffman to me feels small and too symetrical. I also don't like the poured concrete look.... :puke: It's time fo...

Has the Plaza fallen off?

I know David Berstein who operates the Beauty Brand stores. Next time I run into him at the rec center at UMKC, I'll ask him what the heck is up.

Yeah, I hope NFM doesn't drive out the likes of Rhodes or Benchmarks. Just what we need are a bunch of 200,000 sq/ft empty buildings spotting the metro area.

I haven't been out there yet. I don't know if I have the endurance to walk through the NFM. I might have to start some sort of training to get my body conditioned.

I know quite a few people in Wichita that hold season tickets to KU basketball/football and Chiefs football, so your conclusion is erred.

Re: OFFICIAL - Arena construction

I'd be all for an AHL team because it is close to par with NHL, just cheaper. NBA is different because the ABA (or what's left of it) is not in the same class, category, or whatever. Maybe the team in NO will flop or the Clippers will tire of being the ugly stepchild of the Lakers. Anyway we could g...

Re: OFFICIAL - Arena construction

Denver's metro area isn't much bigger than KC's and they don't have the smaller regional cities like KC does (Omaha, Wichita, DesMoines). I think KC could support another major league franchise, most likely NBA. With college hoops as popular as it is here ( due primarily to my beloved Jayhawks, :win...

Thoughts on Main St. in Midtown

The Northland is the reason light rail has failed in KC. It's humorous to hear some of those on this board blast JOCO for not supporting metro issues, but JOCO has yet to NOT support a Bi-State initiative. Maybe some of the blame should be placed on the Northland. IMO, they less cooperative and less...

KCK needs to do the same things that KCMO needs to do to revitalize downtown......clean up the streets and landscape the heck out of the area. It's amazaing what repaved streets and landscaping can do for an area. Then begin bringing people back to the city to live and retail and business will follo...

St Louis skyline

I like St. Louis' skyline. It seems bigger on TV than it really is. KC needs to take some lessons on lighting there buildings more especially their art deco ones. Once the bridges are painted and lighted, I'm hoping KC will do a better job of "showing off" their downtown.
