Re: 112 & 206 East 31st

Congrats in advance Chris. I’m super excited to see things develop. Sounds like a great project. That’s going to be a busy block for construction with streetcar, your project, Price Bros inevitable demolition and another project in the works nearby

Re: Arabia Steamboat Museum Looking for New Home

I have a feeling they will end up selling the collection to some museum or other party (like a casino) that are looking to enhance attractions. Exactly. The current problem is no one is close to the Hawley’s requested price. I would gladly exchange Death Cab for Cutie for the Arabia. I just hope th...

Re: Arabia Steamboat Museum Looking for New Home

It sounds like people are interested but not to a scale that satisfies Hawley. I just hope KC is getting enough rent from them to offset the inability to fully utilize the River Market based off the limitations the museum has been able to put in place.

Any word on what and when something is opening in the Flying Saucer location? Seems like they’ve been working on it a while.

Could it have been related to NASCAR this past weekend? I noticed several larger than normal jets at the airport and figured it was related to the race.

I just realized, I hope my post didn’t come across as a “just google it” response. I was meaning that tying it in with kbosh’s thorough list you can plan your route.

Strange Days is also in the river market area if you streetcar up there.

Re: beer.

Kboish’s list is a good one. Particularly given the walking tour request and neighborhood breakdown. Pull up Google Maps or untappd and do a map search for brewery around 18th and Oak. Enough within walking distance to fill a whole weekend. Something if feel I need to understand for quality recommen...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

The stadium should be placed where it does the least harm. Even if (hypothetically) one location is the difference between a mediocre success or a grand slam? *pardon the pun Agree about least harm. We can try to get on base or we can risk striking out swinging for the fences. If it goes to East Vi...

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

The back patio area has potential. Was it a bar before? Seemed a bit like they just opened in an existing space without much work. I went around happy hour last weekend and the tables both inside and outside were pushed around the perimeter which I thought was odd. Is there dancing later in the open...

Re: Politics

I saw some reportage that indicated that there were a pretty high number of voters who just voted on the abortion amendment and didn't vote in the other races at all. This is why I don’t feel that this vote is a fair bell weather on November voting. I feel there is a big difference between voting o...

Which is why a streetcar stop is planned there. I believe they lobbied for it. Dave can correct me if I’m wrong.

I wish some developer could convince the Rehab Institute to build somewhere else. Perhaps move to Hospital Hill. https://www.google.com/maps/@39.0868028,-94.5726337,361m/data=!3m1!1e3 Then their site could be redeveloped with TOD residential. AbilityKC (formerly Rehab Inst) has a foundation that ow...

Wasn’t their current building rebuilt not too long ago or was that a remodel? What type of boulevard standards are there that could help make this an improvement rather than further strip mall standards?

I’ve heard talk of Crossroads Academy doing something with the grassy/woodsy lot on 9th from Penn to Washington. Mahomes is the perfect face for an ownership group, even for a non-KC team anyone would want him. I would think Mahomes would be more interested in being the face of the Chiefs and winning football games than being the ownership face of a NBA team Look at what A-Rod did to buy the Timberwolves! He ...

It’s nice that a chain decided to move into the KC market. I question using “exclusive” as an adjective but whatever. Could care less about where it is in town as well. I think it’s the blatant marketing that our media is essentially giving out free (?) ad time by covering it.

Am I being too jaded by getting annoyed at the level of media coverage a fast food franchise opening is getting? There has to be something more interesting going on in the city to spend air time on.
