Re: Misc Crossroads News
What I want to see in the Crossroads is the sort of addition that gives new life to a small historic structure with contemporary architecture that doesn't try to hide: The NW corner of 11th/Penn has a good method for neighborhoods like the west side. two homes were connected for professional office...

Plano, TX urban density
http://www.plano.gov/DocumentCenter/View/13820 Plano, which is a 1970s growth suburb, just enacted extremely urban growth policies. Take a look at mixed use parking requirements. That's everything that KC should be doing and this is your classic suburban town. Read the document, basically every aspe...

Merriam Town Center
Merriam is preparing to wind down the Tax Increment Financing (TIF) that helped develop Merriam Town Center at Antioch and Johnson Drive, the Prairie Village Post reports. The major retail center has netted $19 million in sales taxes since 1999, and the TIF is slated to expire in February. Once the...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
Bets on which company's delivery driver will be the first to block the train during testing? I'm betting on UPS. There's one driver that has been seen in the crossroads with that nice new center turn lane to park in AND a 40 foot segment in the parking lane free of cars and uses neither, instead dou...

Here's a couple more good pieces why Miami is especially vulnerable. http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2015/02/climate-change-economics/parker-text At two feet they will be sitting out in the ocean,” says Hal Wanless, chairman of the University of Miami’s geology department. “Most of the barrier isl...

Re: Bike Lanes
I would hope the city doesn't exclude looking at a classic trail in the median of the street. the sections from Indep Ave to 18th and the south of Brush Creek until roughly Research Medical both have decently wide medians to work with. a trolley track-style trail could work well for at least the sou...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
The key thing is everything be put in right. like it's fine the last track work took months longer than was said, because it needs to be done right. testing should be the same way where taking an extra month is fine to have it work right from the start we don't want a DC Streetcar type of delay at t...

Re: Do you have or plan to get Google Fiber?
I thought that was always the point of the rallies - to prioritize the fiberhoods within a region. They didn't actually announce this was the case. It makes sense though. The goal of the rallies is to determine what areas get service period. KCMO central has general open sign ups and the places tha...

There was an Outback on Chouteau? How long has it been closed?
I shop at that Target and didn't know one ever existed there.

November 19 is the deadline for West John County. About half of the fiberhoods have already met their goal. and then you get to wait 12-18 months for installation Six months from signups to installation in Lee's Summit. their map shows the qualified areas as under construction still. you got lucky....

They are at Roe Ave. and Indian Creek Parkway. My reaction to this is likely similar to that of someone who lives near Roe and Indian Creek Parkway when I say "They are at Gillis and Pacific." Maryville is in the northland and Sedalia is part of Kansas City, both are incorrectly broad in ...

probably not mapping literally but more having to do with real time machine learning algorithm development
the easy part of self driving is following a static view with lines and signs and such. that's what mapping gets you. harder is dynamic learning with a changing environment.

Should put the stadiums over the trench. Two birds, one stone. BOOM! * *I have not even looked to see if there is anywhere near enough room. Update: Nope. BOOM! redacted. I thought about that. Then I saw that per the 2009 city research, a three story building is $1400 per square foot to put over it.

I think we covered this and there's a very scary food safety issue. But I don't see why they couldn't get past this. The royal gets a mass certification for the event. They then have contenders sign up to be able to sell their food to the public during certain hours. There's places that would love t...

Why would I pay to go to an event that I can't try (buy) the competitors food? It's just not worth it. The best point against the event being more successful was the Star reported "hundreds" of people attended the parade. It was slightly cold. The photos back up their estimate on the numbe...
