Re: Westport Ale House (Formerly Streetside Records)

Oh, I agree. It's horse piss. But I seem to see a lot of people who just carry them around and nurse one for a whole evening.

Re: Westport Ale House (Formerly Streetside Records)

There's always one person in any large party who wants to have a beer but doesn't really like to drink a beer.

Re: Is Midtown Marketplace one of the city's greatest blunde

I'm not saying it happened because of the Costco or the big boxes. I'm saying it wouldn't have happened if they hadn't taken some drastic measures to try to do something to fix the neighborhood. The big boxes were just the best idea they could come up with at the time that could also get the funding...

Re: Westport Ale House (Formerly Streetside Records)

I think the signage for the garage needs to be clearer that (a) it's free and (b) it's available to everyone. The entrances are also a little cryptic.

Re: Is Midtown Marketplace one of the city's greatest blunde

I think the argument is that if the neighborhood had continued on the trajectory it was headed in the mid-80s, the redevelopment in the surrounding neighborhoods would not have happened. A lot of this discussion seems to be looking at the neighborhood as it is now, with the Costco and the Home Depot...

Well, you can take the MAX from downtown to Home Depot, and there isn't anything like that to north of the River.

Re: Westport Ale House (Formerly Streetside Records)

I do go to McCoy's, and I have watched a game or two at Port Fonda. But you can only really do that comfortably at either of those places when sitting at the bar and neither of these places typically have any sound on. I guess this place looked like they were going to try a little harder with the fo...

Urban people also watch sports, and for those of us who have cut the cord, sports bars are often the only alternative.

Going to throw this into the mix as well.
Wholesale retailer Costco pays its employees an average of nearly $21 per hour, about 65% higher than its largest rival, Wal-Mart.

Re: Is Midtown Marketplace one of the city's greatest blunde

I think the problem was significantly worse than a few bad apples. At the time they did this, it was the best available solution to the problem. It wasn't the best solution, full stop, but it was the best one they could get money for at the time. It's like an amputation. It's never the first solutio...

Desserts will include Tank 7 Donuts (doughnut holes, vanilla bean ice cream, and house-cured bacon, topped with a Boulevard Pale Ale caramel glaze).
I'm not sure that I need to know anything else.

Re: Is Midtown Marketplace one of the city's greatest blunde

I'm sure the people in the neighborhoods surrounding Warner Plaza were pretty happy to get these big box stores instead. It's all very well to preserve buildings, but I don't think it should be at the expense of people, and it's pretty patronizing to tell people living with that kind of situation th...

It's an initiative by the Rosedale Development Association to develop the trailes from Roanoke through to Mission Cliffs, including Mount Marty. I've worked the two work days on the Mission Cliffs trail and can confirm that honeysuckle is, in fact, a bitch. More here: http://forums.earthriders.com/v...

Re: Kansas to allow businesses to elect not to serve gay cou

This is one of my most frequent What is Wrong with America rants -- we need to get rid of the primary system. If we had one election, with everyone running, then a runoff if nobody got a majority, then the vast middle who doesn't vote in primaries because they have lives that don't center around pol...

Missouri to allow businesses to elect not to serve gay cou

I almost want this law to pass because I want to see some horrible, horrible backlash from this god awful state and teach these politicians a lesson. It will most likely never happen but it would be funny if some of the KU, K State and Wichita State basketball players refused to play, Sporting KC o...
